Thank you for your Estlcam videos. I'm watching them all and learning from each one. I might be able to actually make some things with my MPCNC now.

I think you are right it looks a little weathered or like it has been around a while. Nice job, 95% or the people won't notice the offset. As always love the videos, your methods, the laid back attitude, you make it look so fun (sometimes it makes me cuss up a storm).

allted Thanks a bunch! Came out better than the first take, where I made the same mistake, only worse. I need to make myself a check list- 1) zero z 2) zero xy. 3) reset marlin. 4) repeat steps 2-3. Tonight I pulled a bit right out of the collet by forgetting to reset marlin. I'll keep that one for the bloopers reel.

What program did you use to draw this
@Someoldguycoding5 жыл бұрын
I used "Graphic" its a vector drawing program on the Mac. Any vector drawing software should work. Thanks for watching!

Great tutorial! I was really curious about the tool change and I'm kinda glad you had the issue 'cause now I understand how it's done. You threw me a loop when you switched to Estlcam with your Mac. I'll probably buy Graphic today too.

I did a similar design using Graphic, set the G-code in Estlcam and cut it in foam board on my Lowrider. It came out as a mirror image and I'm scratching my head. Thoughts?

X axis motors plugs flipped? X Home in wrong corner ?
@@Someoldguycoding I'll bet my X is flipped! Thanks.

Tony Latham I think you’ll have to switch the home corner for x. Gold luck!

Would having the end stops have fixed the uneven outer oval? Just getting started building mine. Trying to learn from ya! Thanks!

yes, that could have helped. It's all about starting the second tool from the same spot as the first. Can take some practice. Thanks for watching and commenting!

My 3d print, free software is great. I figured out Prusa slicer in a morning. all these router softwares are a pain in the butt. I "touch off to precisely determine work place zero", hit start, and who in the world knows where it is going. I started trying this program, my like 5th program, days ago and it is the best so far but it is a pain in the butt. Im thinking now it thinks the left is right and the right is left.

you can change the direction just by unplugging the stepper motor turning it 180 degrees and plugging it back in.good luck!

good work. have you test to work with aluminum or brass? the first engraving ( text art ) the z plunge depth is gradually ? ie z variation for any carving steps until arrive to the total depth.? thanks for your answer.

min 11:29 I saw there are 3 levels of Z...it is correctly? that value is important if work with brass, another way, broken the bit.
@Someoldguycoding4 жыл бұрын
@@luisvivanco8544 I haven't tried metals, but other people have had success with them. Yes, the depth per pass can be configured in the CAM software. Thanks for watching and commenting!

What bit are you using? I tried using these "chamfer end mills" from amazon: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Q7UFNCM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 They are just counter sink bits though, and end up burning the wood because they cant remove material very well.
@Someoldguycoding5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Search for V-bits. This is probably the one I used at the time. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012JCSJY/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

@@Someoldguycoding Worked great, thanks for the advice. Not many programs can do this "carving" feature that estlcam can do. Do you know of any others?
@Someoldguycoding5 жыл бұрын
Great! I'm glad things worked out. I'm pretty sure you could do something like that with fusion, and others, but I'm happy using Estlcam! It's got some warts (I really wish it had an un-do feature), but I find it easy to use. Carving, cutting, engraving, 2.5d all work easily. I haven't tried images with it yet.

Well you won't win any prizes for camera work but a good attempt.
