What possessed you to make a video of Moston? I lived there for years but moved in the mid 90’s….it’s not the place it used to be sadly!

For conversations like this, talking to some of the locals who unfortunately did not want to be in the video. They also explained how much had changed. We make random walking videos of random places for your viewing. Thanks for watching 👍

@my3rdeye896 It must have been a shock to you to see neighbourhoods like this in the UK. A lot of Americans think that these sorts of places, Harpurhey, Cheetham Hill, Collyhurst dont exist and that the UK is full of posh well to do areas and people. I grew up in North Manchester and my uncle currently lives in Philly, he moved out there in the 90s and when I visit him out there, so many of the neighbourhoods there remind me of parts of Manchester I grew up on.

This is not in the travel brochure for sure when people think of the UK. This looks more like parts of Philly or Baltimore than Buckingham Palace, but North Manchester is where I lived as a kid and as long as you dont get involved with unsavoury characters, it is an ok place to live, and there are still a lot of good hardworking people, a few youngsters that ruin it somewhat for everyone though as well. Must be a bit of a shock to an American tourist coming here, strange to hear an American in Moston, it isnt a part of Manchester that most Americans visit.

Born in Caledon Ave in the '50s but my parents emigrated to New Zealand when I was just 2 years old. Grew up and went to school in NZ but went back to the UK in '84 to find my roots when I was in my 20s. All my relatives talked about was how Moston Lane had gone down. Apparently, in the '50s and 60s, Moston Lane was THE place to shop in North Manchester and also a place to just stroll about and meet members of the opposite sex and chat; a place for socializing. Well, Moston Lane might have been a bit jaded in the '80s but it was Park Avenue compared to what it is today. Can you say "ghetto"? Moston, Harpurhey and Blackley are case studies in urban decay.

Your parents did you a massive favour mate, it's a hellhole now, I know a disabled chap who's had ALL his car windows put in by little thugs & the cops say " try & keep an eye out" ?? I'd rather live in a fckin tent than Moston. 4:51

Born and raised in Moston for 50 years...heartbreaking that once a disirable area to live, now turned into a 3rd world ghetto. Most of the shops are actually fronts for ilicit dealings i.e people trafficing, drugs and prostitution.
