MOTAT MEMORIES & OTHER AUCKLAND TRAMWAY HISTORY

Live video taken at Auckland's Museum of Transport & Technology, combined with historical footage by Jeff Groban I put together in the late 1990's on VHS. James Duncan, Tracey Lamaletie (Parker) and myself are also featured during one of my visits to Auckland in the 1990's. James was always kind enough to invite me to do a day with him, such as we used to in the late 1980's. Was always fun to pack my old uniform and cap on a trip back home - though I wasn't wearing it this particular day driving No:11 - the oldest car in the Auckland fleet remaining, circa 1909. (I think ?)

Thanks Paul - the 1980's at MoTaT were a great period of my life that I truly miss. This vid clip reminds me of the fun and the people I shared it with + adding the older footage of Auckland trams in the 1950's.

Hi John, don't you think it's a shame that at the time the MOTAT Tramway only went from MOTAT 1 to Auckland Zoo and not MOTAT 2? I've always wondered why the extension wasn't added until 2007.

Sadly funding was not available at that time. MOTAT was struggling to fund themselves in those days with virtually all members being volunteers. Things have changed over time and the museum now receives external finance as well as their membership.
