Motels Filled With Gross Stains Jacking Prices for Super Bowl

Some Los Angeles area hotel operators are jacking up their room prices for Super Bowl weekend, Inside Edition found in an investigation. But if you’re going to pay top dollar, you’d hope to get your money’s worth. As chief investigative correspondent Lisa Guerrero reports, some motels are increasing prices by more than 800%, and some rooms Inside Edition checked out were unclean and unkempt. We found soiled mattress covers, old food on floors, and ominous red stains on shower curtains, even discarded condom packaging.

After losing my housing last year I've been residing in the local motels in this area. I've been scrambling trying to figure out where I'm gonna go after being informed by my current motel that the rates will be going from around $100 per day, to over $400 starting tomorrow. I opened my mini fridge this morning and saw a roach running across the inside.😬 The way the super bowl has affected Inglewoods most vulnerable residents has been disgraceful.

Saying that won't change anything, there'll always be someone out there that's dirty. It should be the hotel's obligation to keep a sanitary condition. Besides, when you pay for a room, you're not paying for the person last in there to be clean, but for the hotel to make it clean.

If you’re paying for a luxury hotel prices for a motel, you’re better off driving from a neighboring city at least 30mins away. It’ll be cheaper renting a car and staying at a much nicer and clean hotel and still have extra left over cash.

housekeeping doesn't exist anymore in this covid age. Every time I have strayed at a hotel these past year, I have had to clean my own room. This has happened at Hiltons, Marriotts. They charge the same price for a room yet I have to make my own bed and clean my floor.

Possibly. The hotel I work at people stayed there over the 4th of July and then later made a reservation for the following year. They were paying about $119 a night which is roughly our down time price. Other people were paying $300-$400 a night. It's not price gouging. That price is based off demand for the area. We can override to what we want but we usually don't.
