Overwatch 1 was dead and when OW2 released it had a massive resurgence despite all of its bad press and continued to grow even after it's PVE debacle. At this point I feel like the bar is lower than ever but that could be a good thing in a way because they have the chance to do something big and catch everyone off guard

People need to stop blaming the developers for this. I can guarantee they’re doing their best to make the game as fun as possible… But unfortunately, the people above them only care about money. If the developers had more freedom, the game would be much better, with more events and more fun. So stop blaming them and instead point the finger at those making the decisions at the top. The devs are just following orders, sadly.

I PARTIALLY blame the team from years ago for overreaching with their ambition. It was creating OW2 that killed OW1 years before launch. At some point the dev team should have recognized a "remaster" (improved graphics/sfx) would have been better than OW2 when upper management refused to allocate them additional manpower for the PVE.

I don't think streamers are not greatful for how helpful Overwatch was to build thier career but in this economy you have to adapt to what is popular or you will be left behind. Thats just the way things are, they have to go to Rivals. They know Overwatch will still be there if Blizzard ever get thier shit together and try to bring overwatch back to be relevant again.

My expectations are low but holy fuck you can’t even copy your own homework. I know it’s a different game engine now but they could at least get it feeling good. @@owenedmonds Here's my educated guess as a dev, they had most of the code for it but the same code will sometimes function differently in a new engine, things like physics is hardcoded into the engine for example so doomfist not floating a bit after uppercut is because of that. Some things also had to be rebuilt in the new engine from scratch. You can see this with things like orisa pull. Now my guess is as good as yours about why rez cast time is not right or other differences but I heard alec dawson talk about how 1 guy managed to dig up all the old code from the files and in his own free time setup different metas like this. They probably don't have enough resources they can put into this with other major updates to the main game coming but still wanted to release it because they thought it was close enough. We all know blizz wasnt giving them enough resources (all the layoffs) when all these were in development (months ago) but now with competition i think they might get more resources, get to hire more people and in future content we will be able to see that quality. IF blizz does give them more resources that is.

Yeah, I pretty much casually play quick play only and if I play support I almost always do Zen. I really liked the last 6v6 thing but this one? Absolutely gross I am shocked people actually liked the game this way lmao, I also noticed a lot of people saying this game mode was "goofy ahh" and sarcastically saying this mode was great during only the few games I did play before switching back to normal.

When I hopped on and saw that the 6v6 test was gone I was upset. Thankfully classic was there and it allows skins. Dva is playable which is great since she's my favourite character minus JQ. Tanking is so much more fun in 6v6. Every role is imo.

What revisionist history is this. Who at any point said "we should revert to a previous patch to get 6v6" ever. The complaint was that the 5v5 makes the game miserable for tanks. Yet swapping a different role to give a slot to the tank would just transfer the misery. It was then proposed that 6v6 was what the game was built around. Straight up saying more or less felt less fun in testing. Literally Who was saying "we should go back to classic overwatch with none of the quality of life updates to have 6v6" ever in this entire debate

"Classic" is at least 1.5 years after launch. Post-doomfist, pre-Moira, but with some post-Doomfist patches and other fixes. This was about when I lost interest. I miss the beta, pre-launch. There was so much more speed and power and room for skill-expression. Melee attacks were strong, ultimates weren't everything, shields didn't dominate games, supports could do damage. I did play a little here and there after Moira/Brigitte/Wrecking Ball but not nearly as much as beta to 2017.

Overwatch was ruined by the competitive scene. Top players complained so much that the meta completely shifted to fit them and it made the game too rounded and boring. Nothing feels impactful and the moment it did they nerfed it. This also just made the game unplayable for 75% of the player base since shit like Bastion was OP but useless at top ranks
