Unfortunately when they hold the purse strings they think it means they get to choose the gift. My husband and I paid for everything at the wedding. My mother had initially stated she would pay for the flowers, but then started saying that my choice of lavender and rosemary (the literal theme of the wedding!) was "cheap" and "looked poor" because lavender and rosemary are poor man's plants; I really wanted there to be NO cut flowers: I wanted everything to be alive, including my bouquet. she tried pushing for something else...We called the florist and told her we would be paying and that we would make all the decisions. We loved our day and all the wedding arrangements were planted in a garden, including my bouquet. I strongly recommend buying your own things: you'll spend more, but you'll be free from pressure of any "gift givers"

I love the Muslim consultant on this show. Even I’m not muslin, I love seeing her because she shows religion in a different light. A lot of non-religious people think “religious” people are too opinionated and judgmental of others to function in the real world. She, on the other hand, is very sweet, understanding, and comforting, she listens to all her client’s needs, is highly knowledgeable about the store’s inventory, and my God does she have a beautiful face. If I had the money (and a wedding to plan), I’d happily go to her for a dress.

I don't think she really wanted to pay for the dress. She just wanted her daughter to do as she said and that's why she was gonna pay for it. Also, I think she pretended to cry and then hugged her daughter but still didn't like it nor wanted to pay for that dress. In the end, she seemed to cave into peer pressure since everyone else cried because of how beautiful the bride looked.

I don’t like the fact that if anyone but the bride pays, they somehow think that it means the dress is THEIR choice…it is NOT! If you have offered to pay, please ensure that the money is given freely to the bride to get what SHE wants and not what you think is appropriate!
