This sounds like my younger brother and mum as well as my stepdad. Glad I'm out of the house now and not involved in that. Boundarys are always a no in that house

Exactly! I'm happy to be the scapegoat in this family. Started with my grandmother and my father. Now the same is happening with my sister and her son. And now with my daughter and grandson. It seems to be a curse in this family .

Why is the parent-child of the same gender never discussed? The "best friend" or "therapist" relationship. I experienced it with my mother and now my son is with his father. Abuse doesn't discriminate.

If I may, in today's society I wonder if there's another example becoming more prevalent, the single-mother and her son. Women will absolutely surrogate/mold their son to be the man they desire. My mother-in-law to be tried desperately to enmesh with my fiance, then manipulated her way in to be "mommy" to her grandchildren from her oldest daughter. This family is dysfunctional overflow! But I have helped my fiance wake up so to speak and see through the mess and grow.

It probably can be a problem in some families. But I did not expect my son to think the same as me and never discussed my problems with him. He is very independent and live his own life. My mother actually was expecting everybody to think like her, otherwise we were wrong. I had to explain to her that she was not right and other people wrong, there are different opinions. She finally understood and started changing some of her behavior for the better.

My husband's mom hasn't been with another partner since he was 5! She raised him, had him help her buy a house, stopped working, a lot of emotional incest, he met me and would get enraged when I challenged their relationship. Do you have videos on that, when his mom isn't with dad. Thanks

This is so true, unfortunately the man will not even want to hear this, he will deny anything and say that his mother is amazing and their relationship is the best, like best friends… It’s very painful for his partner.

I wonder if this dynamic explains Charlie Adelson's folly? And to think I wasn't even aware there was such an animal as a narcissistic mother until the last few years, my own mother having been essentially the polar opposite of narcissistic. This has been a shockingly steep learning curve. 😮 What has become of wisdom in post- modern societal values?

My daughter says a favor my son (first born) there is no love greater than your first baby! He is married now with two little girls, they are coming to visit me and I can barely contain my excitement. Yea , I probably spoil him, and his wife rolls his eyes, but sometimes I think she gets resentful because he will call me sometimes and tells me when things are bothering him. All I do is listen and I especially never give advice unless it something about how he hates the weather and where he is living. I love my daughter JUST AS MUCH but they are night and day different, she sometimes tells me I give my son more favoritism, NOT TRUE
