Just look at the kitties for two weeks with minimal grabbing, you can cuddle after that. You can sit by Sakura and gently touch them once in a while. This is a time for space, just pet Sakura if she comes to you. Watch Kitten Lady. When you see people on video handling infants its because they are rescuers and there is no mama. It requires special care. Let nature do its thing.

Babies that young cant regulate their own body temp, so they need to be in a pile and with mom. So not touching them, and letting mom give the clues when to touch them is the best way to go. Babies that young only poop and pee if mom helps them, and she eats their waste, that is normal untill they open their eyes and get more mobile. Maybe you really should take Sakura to a vet, so there she can be checked how old she is and if she is healthy.

Joey please don’t continue to put them in a bed away from their mom or cuddle them individually. Yes they’re adorable but to save Sakura from stress and anxiety, keep them where she leaves them. Otherwise she will move them to another spot in the room, it’s better to leave her alone and let her relax. I wouldn’t risk her hissing at you or even swiping lol. Cuddling them individually can be dangerous because they need warmth! Sakura’s a smart momma. She will be okay! Once they are bigger you can give them some love and cuddles.

Please read this! The kittens need to be left alone for 2 weeks they’re only 2-4 days old and their organs are super sensitive, not to mention the fact that they can’t regulate their own body temperature. So imagine your in a warm,comfortable place that you feel safe in. Suddenly you’re pulled into a freezing, terrifying situation where you can’t see and all you can do is call for help. This is basically what the kittens are doing and why Sakura is so anxious. I noticed when she was ‘cuddling’ with you Sakura was constantly sniffing the kitten scent on you. People have mentioned this before but if a mother suspects something wrong with a kitten say from scent or a distorted feature ‘say you moved a bone or cut an organ ‘ she will abandon or kill her kitten. It’s obvious that Sakura trusts you a lot because most mother cats would attack you and leave harmful wounds if you would go near the babies. I’m afraid that you’re going to get attacked by Sakura and get rid of her or put her down for being ‘aggressive’ when it’s just instinct. Just wanted to add that for one of your favourites ‘the black with the white stripe’ in pretty sure that kitten is grey and white, I think this just because he reminds me a lot of my cat ( look at profile if needed ) who people thought was black and white when he was actually grey. Hoping you pick that one as it is a mini version of mine but I’m afraid if you keep on handling the kittens like this they’re going to get killed or die from stress. Just a reminder to make sure you know what you’re doing, these kittens lives shouldn’t be in your hands for the first two weeks. Occasional petting is ok but taking them away and showing them off really isn’t. Hope you see this but if you don’t others can spread the message.... Thanks ❤️

I have kittens and their mama. The mother was accidentally impregnated so we decided to keep the kittens. I’ve been caring for them since March 9th, I only touched them a week and a half later. You really shouldn’t pick them up at a young age unless they are in danger (but I highly doubt since mama would not allow that.) But they really shouldn’t be handled this young and you’re just ignoring the comments.
@TheKatarinaGiselle4 жыл бұрын
Joey! - *The reasons why you should not take the kittens away from their mother are because cannot self-regulate their body temperature and you don’t want their mother to reject them. She could also end up hiding them to protect them. Kittens are not like puppies. Also, remove all plants immediately from the room they are in and make sure the toilet seat is down at all times, the plants could be toxic to Sakura and her kittens and the toilet is a dangerous place they can get into. Just as a precaution!*PLEASE do your research on kittens! Their are plenty of great youtubers, one in particular *Kitten Lady* that rescues kittens that can help you learn everything you need to. But please, stop touching them or taking them away until they can open their eyes and walk or until Sakura allows you to take them (usually when they can walk) otherwise LEAVE THEM BE! You also don’t want Sakura to get stressed out, which can happen very easily. We all just want the best for the kittens and we know you do too.

I love these kinds of vlogs because animals are my heart. When animals give birth they have an automatic instinct to know what to do for their babies, how to care for them, clean them, and protect them even if it's their first birth. It's an instinct in all animals, which is far different than people. Right now Sakuras going to want her babies to be all together. If one were to stray from the litter she will go find them and bring them back. Sakura was basically taking her baby back to the litter to say Joey my babies stay all together with me right now. It would be a good idea Joey not to handle them so much. She may stop caring for them if you do that. I think they are a little different than dogs in that respect. I've had a lot of kittens, you really shouldn't take the kittens away from the mother even if it's just a foot or two away. I've had it happen a few times, I know it's really hard but you should keep your distance.

Kittens that young can die when not kept very warm. Having it on your person is not warm enough. They need to either be with their mommy, in a cuddle pile or on a hot water bottle/ incubator ( if they were orphans)
@minx95544 жыл бұрын
Deathly terrified that we might get a vlog where Joey has to explain that one of the kittens has died. With how stressed out Sakura is and how much he is moving them around- She might reject one and kill them. I'd be heart broken. He keeps picking up his favorite half faced kitten and I'm scared she might be killed because the imprint is gone. Not to mention- She is fragile & if she gets hurt this early on, the mom is more likely to eat any kittens who are "deformed" to give herself nutrients to feed the other 5. I pray that he reads these comments and looks into research.
@brinny89654 жыл бұрын
This is really true. I felt the same way. Don't ge me wrong Joey is super sweet and attentive. But the thing is, cats and dogs don't like their babies being man handled. I witnessed a friends cat reject a kitten once because she was picking up the baby too often. It was awful, the baby died. Joey I am sure means good but he gotta be careful. As a mom, someone I didn't know took my child out of my arms to hold her when she was 3 years old. I almost decked her. My instinct took over and I snatched my baby back and told her how I felt and to back off. Without even thinking I did all of that. I respect his attentiveness and his caring nature but sometimes you do need to let nature take over. Also, one of those plants in the room is poisonous to the cat. I cannot remember the name of it for the life of me. But I do rememeber being told about it when i had a cat. But I am sure that was not something he would have known unless told. I hope he sees the comments that are nicely telling him about all of this, and not the rage comments.

Please know that rejecting a kitten does not necessarily mean killing it. In most cases the mother will just move the kitten out of the way, also it’s not a common as you think especially for house cats. All of the cats we have right now were born and raised here, so they're all incredibly trusting of me.

Joey, I hope you read at least some of the advice you get here. Allow me to add a bit myself. So you know, I have rescued animals for more than 20 years and those animals have included more cats than I can even remember including raising many abandoned litters. You should *never* interfere in the birthing the way you did. It's dangerous for one, but disturbing the mothers instincts while giving birth can be truly terrible. She actually turned away from one of the kittens for too long because you kept literally moving the mother's head away so that you could fiddle with a kitten who was not even fully delivered yet. It was *so* unnerving to watch. You also need to resist all this handling you are doing now. Those newborns are *far too fragile* for all of this. I was shocked to see you already taking kittens away from Mom and her nest. They are not even a day old and you are taking them from their mother. This is extremely frightening for the babies and even the up and down motion of picking them up and putting them back down can be detrimental to their lungs and heart. And Mama does not *ever* like this kind of thing. You saw that when she took the kitten from you. I would not be surprised if she moves them and tries to hide them from you. Mama clearly has a good relationship with you but she will not tolerate your continued interference, I assure you. Those kittens rely on their *MOTHER* for everything - they don't even eliminate on their own, Mama has to help them to do that. If you interrupt the rhythm a mother cat has with her litter, you could be responsible for the mother moderately or severely rejecting one of the kittens because it has been left out of that rhythm and schedule, while being handled by humans too much. Please, just *leave them alone* at least until their eyes are open and they are walking.

Just making sure that all of the kittens are alive, in a safe place, and being fed is enough right now. When my cat first had her kittens, learning to take a step back and let my cat do her thing was the hardest for me. I knew that they shouldn't be moved or touched much, I was just always worried that something would happen to them. However, cats are really smart. Every time you handle the kittens especially at this young age you are endangering them even though I’m sure that’s not your intention. Handling them individually means they can’t regulate their temperature hence why they bunch up with the litter and their mother. Their cries are of distress crying for mother (ask any vet). This also adds significant stress to the mother and can risk rejection which can lead to needing to bottle feed them constantly throughout the day or they will die. This is completely different to dogs. When they’re eyes open, you can handle them more often handling them within the view of their mother. Please keep in mind that their immune systems have not developed so you should avoid entering with unwashed hands and clothes that have been in contact with other animals particularly with animals that go outside. I know you are an animal lover but for the health and safety of the kittens, you need to restrain your urge to handle them as much as you are since you’re unintentionally endangering them every time.

they're recorded at least 1-3 days prior to posting, but it still needs to be said because he can't keep touching them if he wants them to be healthy and survive. he's stressing sakura out and she can end out not producing enough milk and eventually reject them, or flat out kill them like i've had a cat do when my sister wouldn't stop touching her kittens even after moving them several times to what she thought was a safe place. he needs to know that what he's doing can hurt the kittens, they're not like puppies, and even then, lark didn't like him touching the puppies at first, but because he has the trust with lark, she was more tolerable. he literally just got sakura and hasn't built up that trust yet. just because she cuddles him doesn't mean she trusts him and with him messing with the kittens, it lowers that trust to make her feel unsafe. i just want the kittens to grow up healthy and for that he needs to stop touching them for another week and a half.

I've had cats all my life. You shouldn't be handling kittens that young if they do have a mother. Their eyes aren't even open yet. the rule in general is you can't handle kittens until their eyes are open and are starting to waddle out of the box. Handling them too much can give them infections. usually around 3 or 4 weeks old. if you're going to get rid of them...you cannot separate them from mom until they are eating on their own...8 weeks old or more.
@blobbertmcblob48884 жыл бұрын
Not true, you can handle them from the day they are born, but what you shouldn't do is be using them as props in videos to get more views =) You can handle kittens this small for a few seconds at a time, several times a day if you wish, human contact as early as possible is important for kittens.
@pamannis76654 жыл бұрын
That's not necessarily true, I fostered 2 kittens at 2 days old fed them and took them everywhere with me and they were just fine. We also had kittens on the farm and handled them and they were also fine. However you need to follow the mother's cues. It's probably okay to pet them in their bed with her nearby but not remove them.

@endhunter_52444 жыл бұрын
@@justtooweird Yea, But if you read both their posts, they make a very strong point countering yours. Fostering may be different, but you made it sound like ANY kittens shouldn't be handled from that young, you didn't mention ANYTHING about fostering. There's a youtuber who I watch who fosters kittens for a living, and even when she has kittens with a mother cat as well, she still holds and cuddles the baby cats here and there, for longer than *a few seconds* sooo.. what's the point you're trying to get at? They'll only get infections if you don't wash your hands before you hold them, in which, i'm pretty sure he is.. i'd like to know why you didn't mention that.. because if your hands are clean, they won't get infections. They'll get infections if your hands are dirty, and covered in germs.

Sakura couldn't be MORE clear than if she were yelling at you in perfect English. She's telling you to STOP taking her kittens away from her. Stop touching them. I know they're "your kittens" as I've seen so many people comment in defence, and I do love your content, but this is what is BEST for Sakura and her litter. Kittens should not be handled like this before 2-3 weeks old or until they can walk off on their own. It's really harmful to their development and their bonding with their mother, and above all else, Sakura IS CLEARLY communicating with you to stop. I've helped foster kittens many times before and it's really crucial you do your research, Joey. xx
@Olivia-wr5op4 жыл бұрын
If he doesn't listen now the next time he tries to tell him will be the end of the kitten if the mom can't imprint or bond with the kitten because it's being handled it's Seen as being weak and sick so it's a liability and the momma cat will kill it to keep the others healthy
@squidge47284 жыл бұрын
wolf plays that’s not true domesticated mother cats will very rarely kill their own on purpose. If one of the kittens is actually dying on it’s own already or ends up dying she will move it away from the rest of the litter to protect the ones alive and healthy.

Madzlois 3 right he should’ve put them in the middle they could actually suffocate that happens a lot with cat beds that have creases. The kittens push each other and could easily smother each-other to death
@JinxWolf824 жыл бұрын
They wouldn't suffocate in there unless being shoved in there. If anything to worry about, is them getting too cold without mom. Kittens that young cannot regulate their own body heat, and that they were all curled up so tight there without her there could mean they were a bit cold. They are in good hands with having their mom with them in a safe environment, and Joey here seems to be the doting Cat dad, wanting to spoil and love on mom and babies. Much to be learned, but this is a good and wonderfully adorable start! Let mom do her job until they start to open their eyes. Their growth after that is explosive!

This video just further reconfirms to me that Joey is kind of clueless when it comes to birthing and raising kittens. First he was extremely invasive when she was giving birth by touching her tail and babies constantly. Now he's physically taking them away from her. This behaviour puts a LOT of stress on momma kitty. He means well, but he obviously didn't properly research or prepare for this.
