This feels incredibly in character for him- sense its clear he probably lost the real marcalien at some point i can see him being a sort of overprotective helicopter parent afraid that she might meet a similar fate. That coupled with his narcissism makes him gaslight the hell out of poor ice marcy-

I’m curious if in this world Winter King doesn’t want Marcy to leave because either she was killed tragically by someone or something else, or if he accidentally killed her because of what he did to Princess Bubblegum. Either way this song does fit either way. Either he’s trying to scare Marcy from the world that killed her, or scare Marcy from growing up and questioning Simon.

My headcanon is that Ice King used the crown and enchiridion to psyche swap with PB, but Marceline found out about it and they fought, and had to kill her. Winter King doesn't feel bad about it, because to him, she betrayed him. But he is fond of Marceline when she was a kid, so he made an ice golem of her kid version. Side note: I don't think Ice King used the crown alone to perform psyche swap magic with PB. The crown is locked to granting ice magic powers to its bearer. He needed a more versatile magic to perform that spell, thus, the enchiridion.
