I’ve been a fan of Mother Mother for ages but only recently over the the last two years have I really really gotten into them. Their old songs from when they were still Mother are just as amazing as their newer ones. 🧡

Man, I love this song, it’s a shame it isn’t released officially. It’s so beautiful, and sad. I love 0:30 probably because that’s the transition where the song starts to get really sad, and it is done absolutely beautiful.

For those who are like me and like to listen to songs with lyrics: mamma told me only lonely people gonna hold me only those who can't help themselves, yeah only those who will need my shelter mama tells me i believe, i believe in mamma trying i believe in father lying i believe in lovers crying i believe in education, nurture and good education mama gave me music lessons, now i play the saddest songs is that really what mamma wanted? for her baby to be so haunted? is that really what she intended? mamma said this: "hold me closer even though i'm a mamma" she told me: "you're just lonely help me help ya even though i know you're just helpless" mamma said this i believe, i believe in conversation in good communicatin' and i believe in laughter, writing but now all i write are melodies (melodies) simple, sweet, and simply haunt me little rhythms that scold and hold me only cause i know they are lonely mamma told me (ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-maa ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-maa ooh ooh ooh ooh ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-maa ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-maa ooh ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh) mamma help me, i'm helpless, i'm helpless i'm tempted, i'm tempted can't you see it's only loneliness and it's helpless, oh it's helpless i took what mamma said and kept it forefront in my head and now that mamma's dead i love how you are lonely help me help you hold me i take what mamma told me and i read what mamma wrote me and i read it to you slowly and you told me she was lonely oh my mamma, she was lonely and it's all she really told me mamma told me that lonely people gonna hold me only those who can't help themselves, yeah only those who will need my shelter mamma tells me (ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-maa ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-maa i believe in mammas trying i believe in fathers lying, i believe in lovers crying, i believe in education, i believe in music lessons, i believe in conversation, i believe in letter-writing, i believe in mammas trying i believe in fathers lying ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-maa ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-maa)

I know this comment is from like 2 years ago but are you sure it’s "laughter, writing"? It sounds like "letter writing" and definitely says letter writing later in the song so idk why it would be laughter, writing and not letter writing??

This is truly one the most saddest songs I've heard. The pain, the suffering, the confusion, everything in this song is so well executed. I can relate to my parents fighting and talking bad about each other, but this song is on another level. Maybe you're thinking I'm overexagerating, but truly this is how I feel. It makes me so sad, because I know how the singer must have felt (even though I don't relate to everything). I will forever hold this dear

I don't have mommy issues, but god I feel for those who do. My mother and I are so close, and it breaks my heart that those with abusive mothers can never have that kind of relationship. Just gonna say this, my mom has a saying, “All queer children and my children.” I don't know who needs to hear this, but some people don't even know you but love you ❤️

What do you guys think the song is about?
@greenasmr0015 жыл бұрын
Sorry if this is late but I think it's about a mentally immature mother who raised a child with these beliefs that they can only be loved if somone is dependent on them because she herself was very lonely. Eventually the child grows up and finds somone who loves them unconditionally and this messes with their head " mama I'm tempted, I'm helpless " but since their mom is dead now they go against It and their lover eventually figures out and tells the singer how lonley their mom was and it all makes sense to him
