Yes, you can make it without using magnets. Magnets are used only to hold the box together. You can punch holes on top of lid, and pass ribbons through it and then can tie the ribbons to hold the box together.

A4 size sheet is a bit small for some parts of this card. You can paste two A4 size sheets together to get one big sheet and then work on it.
