But the scene from one movie I can never forget was towards the end of the Mothman Prophecies. I know a lot of people might dismiss that film but a scene near the end where Laura Linney calls Richard Gere (with whom she developed a relationship while they were investigating some paranormal activity) on the 2nd anniversary of losing his wife (this is a movie with a paranormal plot line - so you if haven't seen it - just bear with me, it's complicated). Stricken with grief he has been tricked into believing that his dead wife is going to call him (she is not) and Laura Linney is trying to get him to see this and to come and be with her for Christmas. This is the kindest, warmest portrayal I have ever seen in a movie!

This film was about grief (not just horror) and how we try to find closure thru things that sometimes may not make sense

@@Stefan-ji2ek True. I've watched it many times and find it fascinating the way it draws you in every time. And every time she explains simply about how they spend their Christmas her compassion over his loss and turmoil makes me have a little weep.

Thanks for uploading this scene. The moment he finally breaks down crying was such a good display of Richard Gere’s acting

You feel just as I do about this scene. Laura Linney plays Connie so well, and her gently voiced compassion for John in this scene made me cry when I first saw it, has every time since, and just did again.

As a widow,I know the pain that the first Christmas without your loved one is like-it’s a killer,it’s gut wrenching. You smile for your family and friends, but inside you are f******* dying.

It was dark where Connie was in her living room and light in his living room even though it said it was almost 12

This was the mothman, not Connie. That's why she tells him he can't call her back. He's a shapeshifter (remember Mary at the police station?). At the end of the film John asks Connie if she called. She pauses in confusion and says "yeah. Yeah I called". She was lying. Leek said the mothman brought him to point pleasant to die; but even he says you'll always misinterpret their messages and that their motivations aren't human. He brought John there to save Connie. He's both sides of the coin. Good and evil

I think Mothman would've been on the phone had he picked up instead of Mary, and that would've prevented him from saving Connie.

Great point never thought of it and her voice sounds different

@@Stefan-ji2ek He knows the future. He knew John wasn't going to answer at 12 when his dead wife would supposedly call. Early in the movie, Gordon points a shotgun at John, claiming he'd been there 2 nights in a row. That was obviously mothman. He can imitate voices to a tee and shape-shift. It dosen't make sense that he'd help Connie, but he's an entity beyond human understanding, he won't come right out and explain his intentions. You're more advanced then a cockaroach, you ever try explaining yourself to one of them? Heh
