This is possibly Ifukube's most beautiful melody. He was a genius.

Sacred Springs is one of the best songs in film. There is a level of serenity that is just grandiose. The fact that this a song for a Kaiju, a giant creature that most would view as a monster makes it even better. They are not monsters, just animals. And this song embraces that. It gives Mothra a level of grace befitting of a queen. A lot of people don't focus on the music in Kaiju movies, but rather focus on the monsters. I think the music is just as important. Without it, a scene is less impactful. Akira Ifukube was in my opinion, the best composer of the 20th century. He brought some of the best songs to film, and this is easily one of them. Even now, 15 years after his death, people still try to recapture the magic of his songs. But as they say, it's hard to capture lighting in a bottle twice.

Thank you so much for this insight - and it also shows Ifukube's genius, as he wrote in at least three languages..

Finally someone who truly understand the real language of this song. A lot of Godzilla and Mothra fans believe this is in Indonesian or some think it's Japanese but if you're Filipino of course you understand the song.

Interesting how the 90's "Godzilla vs. Mothra" has the better main "Mothra Song", and the original has the best "Sacred Springs".

To think Ifukube was initially against mixing his music with the Peanuts yet they were able to make this tragic but beautifully well done track is beyond me. Just imagine if he actually did the OST for the original 1961 Mothra.

I absolutely love this song, but it's so sad, Mothra strikes me as a very tragic character. I love her, but she's so sad and tragic, and a lot of her songs reflect the hardships she goes through and her noble nature. And dammit, why does she have to make me cry? LOL Godzilla seems to be the opposite, he's got some tragic qualities to him, too, but most of the time he makes me laugh, at least the guy in the rubber suit does. XD I just listened to this song and then watched a clip of Godzilla's victory dance in "Godzilla vs. Monster Zero," and I'm like, yeah, Mothra often makes me cry, Godzilla often makes me laugh, why is that? LOL
