Your videos are FABULOUS! To the point and fun to watch so thanks for sharing. I like that you went through your process, for example using bezier warp to make the cameras spin, I tend to do everything the hard way so stuff like that is always a plus to learn. And the fact you're always integrating texture with things is really cool too!! Under #1's leaf is probably the same thing you find under a Ken doll's pants--NADA! (ha!)

Thank you so much! :D I really appreciate the time to took to write such an awesome comment. I wish I had learned about the bezier warp years ago. It would have saved me so much time keyframing shape layers. :D I think you might be right about under his leaf. He's got to be compensating for something.

4:22 - creating pattern background You could use expressions with sliders to space them out to the size of the composition. Have 10-20 icons per row, per layer shape. Add expression to each Shape layer so that when it's duplicated each layer (with X amount of icons) will go below and shift slightly to the left/right to create offset. Your method is a lot simpler but each time you want to change something you have to re-do it. With expressions you could have sliders to adjust X and Y positions of each element. I don't know how using that many pre-composes affects rendering. But for something as short as that animation I would probably use the same method as you did :P

Could you share your opinion on using touch screen for animating/illustration? I'm thinking of getting one for myself. I imagine it'll be much more pleasant process.
@BenMarriott5 жыл бұрын
I use a Wacom Cintiq or an iPad pro for the sketching phase and for frame by frame animation. I don't use a tablet for anything inside after effects. Plain old mouse and keyboard are what I prefer. I know lots of people who use a graphics tablet instead of a mouse for that, but I haven't been able to really get a hang of it. :)

Nice video. I have a question. I am ok with AI and AE and I am looking for jobs in motion graphics. What should I learn to do in Photoshop in order to aim for these jobs? My guess is that healing brush mastery on pictures of supermodels is not the way to go, still there are skills in PS that I MUST HAVE.

for motion graphic illustration..is good to use Illustrator or Photoshop...?

Both are great to use. I found illustrator more intuitive at the start because vector elements are easier to animate.
