Let me explain, 48(in LHS) = 2*40*v2 / 40 + v2 (this is denominator) so now,48 in numerator of LHS and 40+v2 in denomenator of RHS will get multiplied (this is what i mentioned cross multiplication) so,proceed with other steps 48(40 + v2) = 80v2 (cross multiplication) 1920 = 32v2 1920/32 = v2 960/16 = v2 (while cancelling) 240/4= v2 (while cancelling) v2 = 60 km/hr is the answer !!
