LYRICS:
All the stupid lies and the stupid games
Left a vacancy in this picture frame
A prisoner by my own hands
Cause if I can’t have me, then no one can
I need to heal what I inflict
But I’ll burn that bridge when I get to it
As I play roulette with a broken gun
I confess these sins with a sharp and spiteful tongue
So how do I apologize, and put the tears back in your eyes,
When every canvas that I paint, is a masterpiece made of my mistakes?
Outlined in guilt, my portrait stares
In a gallery where the walls lie bare
As I modernize my antique ways
True colors can’t escape the brush of fate
So how do I apologize, and put the tears back in your eyes?
On every canvas that I paint, is a masterpiece made of my mistakes.
Illustrate all my pain
And set it all ablaze
So how do I apologize, and put the tears back in your eyes,
When every canvas that I paint, is a masterpiece of my mistakes?
And in the light of my demise, I see my failures in your eyes
Every canvas that I paint, is a masterpiece made of my mistakes.

Vocalist Chris Motionless said of this track, "'Masterpiece' is a song which I feel embodies the raw and brutally honest nature of what makes 'Motionless In White'. It took me many years to fully recognize that these are the types of songs that truly are the lifeblood of the relationship between the band and our fans. There is something really powerful and magical in being able to write a song that not only expresses your own deepest emotions and feelings, but to write something that may express the feelings of those who find it hard to articulate their own at times. It is on another level of special. In my own experience as a listener, these types of songs have always offered comfort amidst the pain, and Masterpiece is my way of returning that energy back to the universe for others to potentially find and carry with them."

I recently got released from the psych ward of my local hospital after I wanted to end it all because of my crippling PTSD and depression, just to make the nightmares and panic attacks stop. Throughout my entire stay, I thought about how I would mend my relationship with my girlfriend at home as soon as I was let out, but upon my release she broke off things. I came home to an empty husk of a home, and it was a "masterpiece" of my mistakes. I had waited so long to get help that she no longer trusted in me, which was a very hard pill to swallow. Now that I know there is no going back, I can only rebuild my life from the smoldering embers of what's left and hope she finds the happiness that I couldn't give her.

Please dont blame yourself. Let me tell you a story... i dont tell this often but i hope it gives you perspective My mother, and my father, were both emotionally and physically abusive towards eachother and myself. I grew up seeing people bleed and be beaten, i seen people die. I went to over 100 funerals in 1 year. And my family was never there for me. I wish i had a mother that can recognize there wrongs and what they shouldve done, so on. Even if im gone if my parents can learn from that and find happiness in their life. That is all that matters .... and on the topic of suicide, the only time ive seen an ounce of care from mum is 5 years ago when i tried, and was somewhat successful in my attempt as i was only brought back after 38 minutes with permanent brain damage. I dont know how to put this, but i wish it would have broken through to her, to see her get healthy. And find happiness, and to admit ones mistakes and put them in the past. I wish id have had someone care like you. So dont blame yourself, we all are humans, we all make mistakes, and we all experience pain. Youre doing better than my own parents in dealing with this

So do we not converse, because fuck what anybody else thinks that is different from what i think is wrong? Actual conversation can bring to light a aspect of say this song or music, that maybe we as individuals did not think of. He mentioned trap music. Since Chester's passing away back in 2017 I had never felt that sense of "dude, I really love this guy's voice and the way it fits the music" again... until now. Linkin Park will always be my favorite band ever 'cause they were the ones I found first when I needed to get through some really hard shit. But with the emptiness of not having Linkin Park complete, I thought that I could never feel that emotion and interest on listening to some band's new album ever again. But here they are, Chris Motionless and his band making me fall in love again with true musicians, true human beings that go beyond the "we have to sell music". They just speak for the ones that sometimes can't find a way to talk. They, to me, are giving me back the hope of feeling represented by lyrics that fit some part of my life. For me, to say that you all are awesome it's simply not enough. Thank you for this song, and for all the other songs from you that always help me through rough times. I seriously need to see you live, and from here, Santiago/Chile, you can take for granted that I'll be there if you ever come here.

My heart goes out to you. There are ties we make on this earth that are never broken. Memories that are never shed. I lost my Mom to cancer. When we knew her time was coming to an end, I realized she wasn't afraid of leavings this fight behind her. She had a great faith in God. Her biggest fear was for us, her children. In her time with me she showed me how great a Mothers love is and how it compares to nothing else. She was selfless and strong in a way that still amazes me.She took it upon herself to make sure we were the ones comforted and that nothing was left unsaid between us. I have 2 daughters and a son. I know how much a Mom's heart can love. I know the connection between Mothers and their babies.... because they are always your babies♥️. My oldest daughter and I have the same taste in music. When she was still little she was listening and rocking out with me to Korn and Metallica. A few years back she introduced me to Morionless. Today I will call her and tell her how much I love her. I pray for you. And your family.

This song resonates with me on a level I can't even fully describe. I struggle with an eating disorder and have put myself and my loved ones through so much and one of the biggest feelings in recovery is the insane amount of guilt. Guilt because of what I feel like I did to my body. Guilt because I put my loved ones through so much pain when they watched everything spiral. Guilt because of the pain I feel I put myself through. What a beautiful song.

This song has a deep meaning to me. My mother has been in active addiction for 15 years of my life, and I can't even be sure that she isn't anymore because we hardly talk. I don't think I'll ever get closure or answers about so many questions from my childhood. But this song.... I imagine my mom singing this to me as a true heartfelt apology got everything she let me go through growing up and everything she inflicted on my siblings and I. And even though it's not a real apology from her, it does some sort of healing in my heart. Thank you for this song.

This song hits hard especially after going through divorce and not wanting to get back on that proverbial horse. Even when really nice women show interest I just can't take that leap of faith and stick my neck out again. This just helps and I love you guys for creating this. You guys are an awesome band.

@@filthyphil9276 well I am alone. Ok I am just kidding.. I know what you mean and thanks. I have to say that this song helped me in my recovery and I am actually open to dating again and I don't think I will be alone forever. It's amazing what you find meaning in and what impacts and this song did help. I had been punishing myself for things that weren't my fault and have moved past that. Thanks for the kind words and encouragement. It's been rough after my divorce but in retrospect my marriage was rougher. 😄 I am going to be alright. I hope you will be too.

@@MrVT417 my recommendation is therapy and research and doing the work. I know it's not typically our way as men to take that approach but believe me it helps and when you make a breakthrough it is like a tarp has been pulled off your head. Seriously I know it's cliche to say it's eye opening but it is. A good book that helps is Attached and reading the research from Samantha Joel on relationships is pretty good and you can get it free online by just Googling it. You can get better and it's work but it's worth it. You'll feel better about yourself and if you are able to get a good relationship then you will feel better still. Think of it like exercise. It's just like going to the gym but for your head. Because it's all mental really. It's fixing how you think about relationships and stuff and when you fix that you are truly better. Good luck man. You got this.
@darrenskjoelsvold
@darrenskjoelsvold 5 ай бұрын
@MrVT417 what really helped me was a combination of things. First getting to know yourself so you know who you are and what you bring to the relationship. I found out stuff about myself and why I actually am a good person. It sounds corny but it actually helps. The other thing that helps is a more active kind of therapy. Just talking about your feelings isn't always effective. Sometimes you need an activity to work though things. Also researching relationships to figure out what you want and what to look for. Being very intentional and only going after what will make you happy is better than just casting a wide net. But first you need to really look at yourself and realize that you are a good person and that you're worthy of being loved. You have value and somewhere out there is someone who will see that and want that and you can and should be happy. Never give up. Build yourself up and figure out what you want and go out and get it.
