Motivation introduction, definition, nature, types, theories and importance of motivation in nursing.
Motivation is inner force which directed toward a goal. These are innate or learned.
There are four types of motives-
Physiological motives-hunger need, thirst need, respiratory, rest/sleep need, need of elimination.
Social motives-Affiliation motives, needs for status, power motive, social approval
Personal motives--- Achievement motive, Aspiration motive, Curiosity motive, Fear motive..
Unconscious motive-
Theories of motivation-
1. Instinct theory of motivation-born with preplanned behavior
2. Push and drive theory--- Behavior pushed towards goal
3. Freud’s psychoanalytical theory-life and death two instincts
4. Incentive theory
5. Goal oriented/ cognitive
6. Maslow’s hierarchy needs- Abraham maslow Physiological, safety & security, love & belongingness, Self-esteem, Self-actualization
