Motivational Interviewing: Basic Understanding (Session 1)

Recording of the first session in a three-part, webinar-based, training course on Motivational Interviewing (MI). The series is presented by Igor Koutsenok, MD, MS, Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California San Diego, Department of Psychiatry.
The viewer is oriented to the underlying spirit and principles of MI and helps you to strengthen empathy skills, recognize and elicit change talk, and roll with resistance. Research evidence is examined for the efficacy of MI and for the importance of building a therapeutic relationship in clients’ outcomes. Integration of MI with other treatment modalities will be considered.

Dear Dr Igor, thank you so much for this webinar. I actually missed the the webinar but watched this video and have gained a lot of insights that I can use to help my clients. I really enjoyed the explanation of why people don't change the definition for motivation and ambivalence. I cant wait for the 11 and 18th. Marvelous!!!
