Recording of the first session in a three-part, webinar-based, training course on Motivational Interviewing (MI). The series is presented by Igor Koutsenok, MD, MS, Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California San Diego, Department of Psychiatry.
The viewer is oriented to the underlying spirit and principles of MI and helps you to strengthen empathy skills, recognize and elicit change talk, and roll with resistance. Research evidence is examined for the efficacy of MI and for the importance of building a therapeutic relationship in clients’ outcomes. Integration of MI with other treatment modalities will be considered.
