I think I've said it on every video regarding this incarnation of the band; had they called it anything but Motley Crue, they may have started a revolution musically. They weren't as heavy as Pantera, yet they weren't as soft as one of the typical 80's bands. They made an amazing record with Corabi!! Very underrated!!

I agree 100% the album was ahead of its time. Its faster louder better musically, its just not motley crue...
@allsystemsgo86783 жыл бұрын
Musical revolution?! Wow, that's a bit much. They had a giant contract. Even if they wanted to call it something else (which I seriously doubt they did) they couldn't. I don't see it doing any better with a different name. At the end of the day they still be three guys from Motley Crue. Grunge was huge. They were looked at as an 80's band.
@masterjedi55103 жыл бұрын
@@allsystemsgo8678 Grunge may have been huge, but 90% of it was trash.
@thedude99412 жыл бұрын
Musical revolution huh? I highly doubt that for a variety of reasons, most importantly the album is decent but nothing special in all honesty most of the songs just sound like knock offs of popular bands of the time, they were trying to play to what was popular at a time when the genre Motley is known for was dead and it didn't work. As for if it was released under a different band name, that would have done nothing to help the album it has gained a cult following because it's a Motley Crue album, if it was released under a different band name it most likely would have just been buried under all the popular stuff it was imitating and faded away to obscurity, remember there was other people from 80s Glam bands that tried that and it took them nowhere. The fact is Grunge was huge, and Pop Punk was getting big as well as Grove Metal and Alternative Metal which later became NU Metal, and these Glam bands were just looked at as relics of an era that was just over.

This album is a glimpse into where rock music may have gone into in the 90's had the damn record labels and MTV insisted that the only rock music that should be allowed to continue was alternative.

I always imagine what would have happened if they changed the name of the band. Would’ve had a fresh start, wouldn’t of been carrying around the old burden of Crue. They could’ve opened for pantera on their far beyond driven tour (FBD was released March 94 as well). The album is incredible, motley was always great at bringing different influences together and making them their own, they’re curators in that sense. And this album is a master curation of what was going on at the time put through the filter of the four guys who made the album. You hear sound garden, black album Metallica, Alice in chains so on and so forth. Masterful album

@@rogeliofernandezjimenez3053 since when has that ever stopped them? They could’ve negotiated a new contract, or straight up breached their contract and dealt with the consequences. Funny enough, it would’ve been the most Crüe thing to do.

I think they all knew deep inside they were the tightest they ever been with Corabi on board. In retrospect, the self titled LP is the strongest, most credible record of their career. It is considered a commercial failure just because it only went gold, but the fact is, when Neil returned for 'Generation Swine' they pretty much shifted the same units.

I hated the movie for the Corabi part, in the movie they made it look like the band wanted Vince back, that was further from the truth, they wanted to keep John.they even done a majority of generation swine with him. I hated the label and what they did to John. He made them better, the band was tighter, and everyone was happier.

Jesse Deleon I agree with u. Some say that if the album wasn’t by Motley Crue, and a different band name, it could’ve done better. I like the album personally but when u think Motley Crue, and not just the vocals , it doesn’t sound like Crue. I think Corabi got a raw deal. Grunge became popular then.

Biggest mistake ever replacing john corobi after one album he sounds amazing Vince Neil sounded terrible on his return 🙄
@jessedeleon41235 жыл бұрын
Mike Cosslett John was the superior vocalist, he sang all of Vince’s songs better than Vince did, he played guitar which really added depth and made them more than one dimensional. On top of which John sang all the songs and never skipped lyrics. John honestly was the answer to the band, had John stayed around they would have survived the grunge wave.

An album that should have been at least half successful as the Black album, sadly not even close but still it went Gold, but the stupid label was expecting trillion albums sold, thus firing Corabi like it's his fault. Had it been Vince I don't think it would be successful either, 1994 was the peak of grunge, even GNR, Skid Row , Poison suffered the same.

I don't want to be negative , but i never get why Italo americans like theses 2 guys never get the effort to know casual words when they go in italy . They re like " i wish ..." but they never did . Worse than that , they even spell their name the American way .. Is that difficult to learn say : Ciao a tutti , Buona sera a tutti . Or Come va ? bene , Multo bene Grazie , Grazie mille , Per favore , Per Piecere.... I mean not necessary to be fluent to death but incorporate , and say a bit of that here and there . No wonder in a way why Europeans consider italo american as only american in some ways . A bit sad .
