At least here in the US, dealers have a large inventory of the current 390 Adv in stock. Going to be even harder to move when the new R arrives. Maybe that’s why the X is delayed.

Great video and appreciate the new 30min+ completele overview! 2 points to mention from this content : - I think you've missed the new Suzuki DRZ, which is the one I'm most waiting for as a lightweight adventure and offroad bike. - My ideal bike setup, following many tests and having owned various ones from different categories (Ducati Scrambler, Triumph T120, Honda ATAS), I've realised that a sports tourer, like the Yamaha Tracer GT+ that I'm getting, along with a lightweight offroader is perfect. If it's to go for a one-bike garage, I would go for a mid-adv bike like the Toureg 660. All the best!

I’m getting older and enjoy and bought 2024 Triumph 400 scrambler X , I preferred it over the 400 speed for minimal off-road soft riding in the more aggressive look and feel I really enjoy my scrambler 400 X added it to my collection of a 1200 speed twin 2023 Baja orange and an old 07 Harley Road King, which is more of a vintage Sunday rider. Thanks for your interesting articles and videos.

Here in India they released a slightly different spec 390 adv, instead of R, we get 390 adv S version. difference is 17/21 wheel size instead of 18/21, slightly reduced suspension travel and ground clearance but not significant because of the wheel size . 835mm seat height instead of 870mm. also it's tubeless spoke wheels similar to that of 890Advs and rest are same, and X is same as international variant but will be available here along with the S variant because it's manufactured here. KTM said R will be launched here too but only later in the year
@SMOKE-hermit16 сағат бұрын
Wait, is that true? R will be launched in India? 🥺
@Hkmmotologs16 сағат бұрын

@scram3611 сағат бұрын
In India, they launched an "Adventure" variant instead of R. Gets tubeless spoke wheels and all electronic riding aids from R, but the suspension travel from X. Ground clearance right at the center.. 230mm. Fuel tank capacity is a big disappointment though, was expecting to be 17 liters minimum.

Here in India we have an S version announced which is the R version but shorter seat height. The R is not slated to release as of now. I am thinking of getting the Him 450 for my touring and get an Enduro R for my weekend offroad trail needs.

If this R model was available a year or two ago, if KTM had less mechanical issues........maybe yes. I got the 450mt, 380 usd titanium exhaust (very nice quality) shipped with tuned ecu, woke up the bike and got rid of the on/off idle fueling. Some protection and racks (from Uncle Wangs as the exhaust) for very reasonable prices, how can one go wrong?

From a 90hp one I will trade one horse power for every kilogram of weight savings all the way down to 40-45hp. We do not need more for 90% of the stuff we most do, given we want to venture off road. Slow becomes fast and less is more in the end.

I love all the competition in the 450 class. Light is right, the best mid-light weight ADV bike up until no was the Suzuki DR650 for value. The Dakar has a limit of 450 cc and I think includes twins, wouldn't it be great to have a 450 Superstock style class for these ADV bikes.
@burddog079218 сағат бұрын
Dakar rules are 450cc singles, but it would be awesome if there was a new class for road derived 450cc twins (just as cars have T1 prototype and T2 modified road, SxS have prototype T3 and showroom SxS T4). Aprillia could basically enter that 457, CF Moto could come as bikes and SxS, and BMW/Yamaha could be enticed to return (Yamaha also has their SxS).

If taken to serious off-road terrian, the biggest disadvantage of KTM390 definetly would be its torque. You have to twist thottle at skyrocket 7700RPM reaches max torque of 40NM, which is easily achieved at mere 2500RPM by KLR650 and other 650 thumpers.

I think it makes a lot of sense to identify where these bike segments excel, and target that. ADVs will never be as good or as easy to manage off-road as a dual-sport or dedicated dirt bike. No matter how small or light they get. So while the lightweight ADVs are great, they'll never compete off-road with a dual-sport. Their best bet is to become as light as possible, while still providing enough protection, power, and luggage support for touring as they can. While also being significantly cheaper than middleweights. Their audience will ultimately be commuters, adventure cosplayers, and aspiring off-roaders that aren't committed enough to just get a dual-sport yet. Or live far from trails and need something they can take on the highway. Middleweight ADVs are the natural endgame for legitimate explorers that want a bike they can travel the world with, but still have enough off-road capability to leave the road. Large ADVs have become the overgrown SUVs of the motorcycle world, while pretending to be the Jeeps. They have literally outgrown their primary purpose. If what you want is every creature comfort, while cruising along at a decent pace, enjoying the high, upright seating position of an ADV, congratulations. You're the soccer mom that traded the station wagon for the Suburban. Ultimately, no one wants the MOST anything. They want a personalized mix of many things like off-road capability, on-road civility, some tech and creature comforts, some basic luggage capacity, some performance, all in an affordable package. For most, that will be a lightweight or middleweight ADV, depending on their wallet and bias between off-road and on-road.

why every single review of the 450GS fails to point out the wheel size?.... even here at the start of the video you mention that the KTM 390X will be the more road focus becaue the wheel size compared to the R model, (same when mentioning the Honda).. yet when talking about hte BMW its all about how off-road weapon will be (same with every other youtuber), yet that bike has 19/17 wheels.... like why no-one ever mentions that BMW kinda fail to put a 21/18 wheel combo in order to make it more offroad bias as msot people want it to be (and BMW market it as)
