damn... you guys make some REALLY PROFESSIONAL REVIEW VIDEOS (i mean... yeah you guys are pros... but damn!) the language, the tones, the videography... this is just great... i know i should be talking about the phone, but the review is pretty darn good, and i though i should comment on that rather than the phone (i am thinking of buying it cause of this review)

Ill be keeping my first gen X. Not digging the non one handed use nor the battery life. Looks like some of the major concerns of the First gen were left behind and only appearnce upgrades have been made. Understandable when a company wants their product to shine in the jungle of flagship devices.

I'm probably hooked on Motorola right now. After owning the last gen X for 4-5 months, and seeing the new one shine just as equally, I have to say that there is really something about Motorola devices that's charming, and truly great. Not to mention the great devices that are the G, and 360. Motorola is showing signs of that short term Google ownership, and in a really good way!

Now that there's a battery case for this phone (a 4200 mah one, if I'm not mistaken), I can cover it a second look. The Moto X really seems like an amazing phone, but that battery life was a dealbreaker.

I just don't know what motorola is thinking, they used to be the leader in almost every aspect of android phone, the customization, the crazily big battery, the Water and dust prove, which are been abandoned by motorola these days, I mean, how hard it could be for them to know people need these things?
@DrGanja9910 жыл бұрын
They still have them, they're just on Verizon unfortunately. :(
@TheJosephPrice10 жыл бұрын
I never thought the camera on the original Moto X was as bad as you guys, and others have made it out to be. I took some pretty awesome pictures, especially in the spring months. Low-light pictures were mostly terrible, but how many phones take good pictures in low light conditions? I've since switched to a Samsung Galaxy S5, because I wanted a larger, replaceable battery and an SD Card Slot. Despite having a better camera(And by default better pictures) it hasn't been as fun to take pictures. Still though, comparing the two, there is only marginal differences.

if it was the same size as the first one, had a better camera and more memory i would be interested.........

If the screen was 4.7 inches and the camera would perform better in low light this would be the perfect smartphone for me. And still no moto maker outside the US isn't cool either. Would love a wooden moto x 2013.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm longing to see what the Nexus 6/X will be like. There are 3 phones I'm interested in; G3, Moto X & Nexus 6... Once the Nexus 6 is released I'll make my decision.
@RodneyBReynolds10 жыл бұрын
Ronald David Well, the only reason I'm considering the G3 is for the removable battery. I'm not one for bloatware, although from reports it's not to bad on the G3.

I like how Motorola puts just enough bloatware in their phones to give them a "different" experience, but doesn't overload them like Samsung does to make them barely recognizable as ever being stock android.. I have the nexus 6, but I might root it and install some of those useful Motorola software integrations considering there is so little its pretty much stock android

I'm not all too sold on the new iteration of one of my favorite phone's I've ever owned... It's just something about the 2014 version that feels almost as if it's trying to drift away from the original purpose of the Moto X. If the updates to Moto Voice, and all the other apps in the Moto Suite get updated on the Moto X (2013) then I would be hard pressed to upgrade.
@theprophet147410 жыл бұрын
Did the battery life get any better Michael?great review btw
@thatoneguycpr899710 жыл бұрын
The moto logo and the camera look awkward on the back, they should have kept those the same as the customizable options, it sorta stands out now.
@KumarSagar10 жыл бұрын
Whoa! The fact that you 'adore' this device since the first iteration didn't have any impact on the review! I mean the camera got a real hard bashing, wouldn't you say? But then, it's the one thing that's stopping me from getting the device. -_- I mean how does it stack up against other flagships and the Nexus 5? A camera head-to-head, maybe?
@Dalex1910 жыл бұрын
Awesome review as always Michael. Thank you for being so fair, balanced and honest in it, even though we know you are a massive fan (and rightfully so) of the first gen X. I also loved the first iteration, but after watching this, I'm going to stick to my One m8. I'm surprised that the battery is so mediocre. The m8 battery is only slightly larger than last year's m7, but it's phenomenal. The optimizations they did with the snapdragon 801 are amazing, and I'm frankly surprised that Motorola, the optimization king, wasn't able to do the same.

A great review (as always), however poor battery life (for today's standards at least) and mediocre camera performance are a real bummer IMHO. Michael, would you actually buy the phone if you were not a tech reviewer? (Because in my case, I sure won't).

If the leather back gets worn can't you just remove it ? I mean you could just buy another back plate right.....?
@c3vzn10 жыл бұрын
I don't understand how Motorola could only manage a 100 mAh increase over the 1st gen when the phone was enlarged so much. This a company that shoved a 3500 mAh battery into its 5 inch Droid Maxx. If the phone was too thin for a larger battery then nobody would've complained if they increased the thickness by 1mm for substantially improved battery life.
To me i prefer a compact config that previous moto x offered while still having 4.7in display....this yrs model seems a lot harder to handle in one hand...

Well, The camera part of a phone, to me, is mostly irrelevant. I mean, I DO take pictures with it when my camera is not around or when I need to send it right away to someone. But other than that, I don't need a great camera on my phone. A nice camera will do. BTW, I'm looking forward to buy this phone.

So for the 1st time I was gonna do a dual phone thing. This and the Note 4. Hey Michael, have you tried the new turbocharger for your moto x gen 2? I was hoping someone could review that as it's something that's not talked about, yet it can charge the new moto x to 80% in 15 minutes and I'm hoping someone can review that soon, cause that will be a huge advantage for me.
