Sorry about that. We weren't in the best testing environment for LTE during the review period, so a test would have given results of limited usefulness. We'll circle back on this. ^MF

Perfectly voiced review with easy on screen visuals. Other news sites should use this review as a reference. Good job listing pros and cons without being to promoting or hash on either end of the spectrum.

I appreciated the review. I've watched a ton of these videos, but very few of them have the extensive work done demo-ing camera and video. That was excellent. One thought, not talking over the sound component demonstration might be helpful. You gave a solid description, but I'd always like to hear for myself. You get a "like." Keep up the good work!
@Pocketnow11 жыл бұрын
You imply a disparity where none exists. Google owns Motorola. If your issue is with our phrasing, you're splitting hairs. One other thing: the variant of the S4 used in the X (MSM8960DT) is indeed classified an S4 Pro even though it's a dual-core AP, and it's married to a quad-core GPU (the Adreno 320). But hey, thanks for the helpful feedback. As "beginners in the industry" after 13 years of reporting, we really need it. ^MF

when you talk about hands on, and the quality feel of a device..gosh imagine if the s4 was here...its build is mad cheap feeling to either of these..my htc one is just an awsome device..the moto/note 3/lg g2 were a few of the phones i was looking at...32gb's..nice..very nice build! ty for the vids

Great out of the box review comparison, I've been on the fence on these two designs. While I'm a heavy fan of both manufacturers I feel I'm leaning towards the X. I'll be looking for more on it since I have to wait my contract to expire and it won't be on AT&T or the big V! T-Mobile isn't providing a good enough signal so I'll stay on Sprint for now.

N5 I owning it and super super amazed in terms of performance and stability one complaint is that even in max brightness in direct sunlight it is like a mirror screen but is blinding bright mist of reviewers complain about camera but I like it it has good quality image stabilization is awesome don't complain about not the perfect photos its phone if you need that buy camera I really appreciate experriance with this phone

You're a very good speaker. One comment about the camera and although I don't own either phone, you can noticed the washed out details of the HTC one compared to the X. That's over saturation. The sky looses the detail and in the the garbage can shot the dirty ground lost the detail while on X its all there. I would say the X captures more of the natural details and the colours are more accurate while HTC and Samsung phones tend to over saturate pictures to make them more lively.

According to Anandtech, the Moto X is the first phone to use a chip which determines exactly how loud the speakers can be driven without damaging the phone itself (based on physical conditions like temperature, pressure etc.). Hence the volume is always as loud as possible. Bloody smart, if I say so myself.
@stevedbutler199011 жыл бұрын
The moto xs features rely on its cpu architecture, it had two additional cores separate from the dual core chip, one specifically for voice recognition and language processing for those voice control features and another for contextual awareness features like the notification adjustments and such. Sure the software will probably be ported but likely be no where near as reliable or frugal on battery life.

I have a HTC Droid Incredible 2 and I'm past the time to upgrade (and Verizon is in full annoyance mode to get me to come into a store). I have considered the Moto X, HTC One, Droid Mini, and the LG G2. I'm leaning towards the Moto X, although I take a lot of pics. I'll make a final decision this week.

@yourbestfriendjoshua11 жыл бұрын
WOW, those camera samples were shocking. The HTC One photos and video look fantastic compared to the X's. So many people dog the One's camera, but I personally love it. Then again, I'm not the kind to zoom in small details and crop them out, so the lower resolution doesn't bother me.

Michael, wouldn't you agree that the most appropriate comparison would be between the X and the nexus 4? I would love to see that. Depending on the price of the GPE of the X, the 4 could very well be the better option, especially for us tech geeks.

At 300 is where most people cannot tell at most distances. But it would take some bigger circumstances for most people to see anyway. So in general 1080p is clearer and nice, but 720p at 5 inches suffices much more than people actually realize.

Did you compare it with the Google Edition HTC One? Seems like you should have compared main stream vs main stream as most people will not purchase the Google edition HTC, and the decision is going to be when mom walks in to the ATT/Sprint/whoever store and is looking at the two devices available there.

Does the Language Processing work over Bluetooth? i.e. If the phone is in the pocket and you have a headset, can you communicate and get info in the ear piece without taking the phone out of your pocket? This would be cool especially when you are in a crowed place and your hands tied up with other things?

just got the HTC One. Michael is right about the feel and finish. It's too big to carry in thr hand comfortsbly and is too 'fragile' not to say expensive (£500 outright here in the UK) to put in one's pocket, even in a case.

I like what Google and Motorola is doing with the Moto X. The user experience is what should always be the focus not specs. Enthusiasts think only of their own usage case but by definition we are more the exception than rule.
@ScottGibbs11 жыл бұрын
What I like about the Moto X is the material of the back. Yeah, aluminum and glass looks really pretty but the fragility almost defeats the purpose. As soon as you buy one you throw a $10-20 piece of plastic over the thing. I feel like the Moto X is the first phone that really doesn't need a stupid case. Just stick a good screen protector over the front and you're good to go.

I think the moto x could take the huge games, I mean It has 4 cores dedicated to graphical processing so it should be able to takle big games just as well as the one. It's more so for people who want the 1080p display, Boomsound, they may prefer the sense ui. Who knows, but I think we are at a point where our phones are by far good enough to run pretty intensive apps with little to non lag so it's more preference on what phone you love the most. :)

I think it'd be more of a bloodbath if they did the htc one with htc sense instead of stock android. I love htc sense and its definitely my favorite UI. It offers way more than the google play edition plus you can get it on contract for 200 bucks.
@DavendraKissoon11 жыл бұрын
The Motorola X is the android phone we need. We need a phone that can deliver a great user experience on sub-par hardware. The hardware and software of this phone work hand in hand. The frame rates are remarkable and gaming is a joy. Trust me without a 1080p screen next to this phone, you won't even know its 720p. Finally android has a dual core phone that can blow the iPhone and Lumias out of water in terms of optimization.

Comparing the Moto X and HTC One is like comparing the Nexus 7 and iPad mini. The plastic devices you can throw around anywhere, while the metal ones you want to baby and keep nice and pretty. If you are willing to deal with babying, metal feels oh so cool, premium, and solid in the hand though. The clearpixel camera is very disappointing. It sounds like a definite evolution in cameras in general. I wonder if it's down to Motorola's lackluster processing.
