Great review! Thanks so much. I'm in northern Thailand (another country that doesn't like to use the horn too much!) and bought one of the xsr155 back in March. Totally loving it. I'm in the mountains mostly and it's been working great for my type of riding. One thing I did change was to get a set of handlebars that were a little narrower and a little higher and now my seating position is fairly upright. I find it more comfortable than the original bars. I also added a rear carrier and some crash bars and sliders. According to the dash and seems accurate in real life, I'm getting about 59km/litre, though because of where I live (and, I guess, because I'm not usually in much of a rush) I rarely go past 80km/hr. It has occurred to me that an xsr300 or something like that might make a very sweet bike!

I'm 154cm (5'1). Yet Yamaha XSR 155 is not a problem for my height. I'm on tip toe while standing but it's not a big deal once the bike starts running.. I did not modify the seat nor lowered its body to avoid further issues.
