Pretty silly that they hide information like that. Generally most of this stuff is all "out there" for anyone to find, but you have to dig and occasionally read actual books. The pros that the other pros are worried about have all read the books. It's only us filthy amateurs out here in the dark, and we're not a threat to anyone but ourselves. What I find fascinating is that, if you cross disciplines a lot, the super top secrets of one community are discussed openly in others. For example, the minutia of cylinder head porting for optimal flow and velocity seems to be dark magic in the import world, but a cover story in a V8 hit-rod magazine. The science of lean combustion is ultra mysterious and even thought impossible in most of the car world, but every dentist with a private pilot license knows about it. Resonance tuning seems to be a hard concept for a lot of car guys and even some serious tuners to appreciate, but every long-haired Monster Energy chugging 14yr old motocross bro knows why a shorty expansion chamber is gonna make his YZ125 rip harder on the top-end.

I had a 92 V6 Camry years back, was young and dumb and blew up the 3vzfe revving it too high. The TVIS system was really intriguing as it varied the intake runners based on RPM made it have tons of torque down low. Also had hydraulic fan that ran on the power steering interestingly enough.
@torstenpearson1996
@torstenpearson1996 Жыл бұрын
Nerd moment- the 3vzfe features ACIS not TVIS. It doesn’t vary the runners themselves, it’s literally just a flap in the top of the intake right before the runners that varies the path of intake flow. Used in the VZ, MZ, and I believe it’s still used today in the GR.

I'm kind of surprised that squish pad angle and piston cam/taper aren't more widely understood. I learned about engines in the 2-stroke world, where these things were reasonably well known to amateurs in the 70s, and polished to an absolute science by the 80s. Of course, detonation and piston seizure are huge issues limiting almost every 2-stroke enging, whereas things like valves, boost, and oil pressure literally don't exist. I've found that 2-stroke people tend to have an extremely strong understanding of combustion dynamics and NA resonance effects. ITBs and long-tube headers make sense to us. But it took me a solid decade to finally trust that a valvetrain could exist without scattering immediately.

@dylan4972 that's awesome 👌. My 2GRFE is in a 2008 Camry Chassis. I loved that car but it's too old now. 2GRFE and Aison 6 speed still work perfect. Great power. But it's a FWD Chassis and while stock is excellent the BMW chassis runs rings around it. There's basically no aftermarket at all in Australia for it. I thought about a Lexus but here used they were more expensive than a BMW. Full bolt on b48 will easily get me to 450whp. That's enough for the street in a 1540 kg kerb weight car.

What is, “WPC” treatment? Also my next question is, what about Transmission matching on, 4WD 4Runners with Turbo Charging Motor, with an increased power build, how is the power matching transfer to the wheels going to be, without a transmission that can match, tuffness and longevity of a run? I’m talking to get at least a, 250,000 mile rebuild, on top of the expense of such a performance investment of power transfer.
