Absolutely loved the video Manny and I’m a big fan of your content and always enjoy tuning in to your channel! I own a 2022 Streetfighter V4S and just from experience when you mentioned the head shaking from the Multistrada when pushing on and fitting a steering damper to help compensate, I’ve found the Streetfighter to be very softly sprung from stock and for my weight (17st approx with full riding gear) it needed too much preload adding to the shock to get in the correct SAG range for the road. I ended up having to have the suspension (front + rear) re-sprung (by CSB Performance here in the UK) 0:01with uprated springs….and WOW what an absolute transformation mate!!…bike is so settled now and rides super smooth and handles amazingly being so confidence inspiring! Also you mentioned about the unsettled feeling down the lower end of the rev range on the V4 RS…I also noticed this on my SF from stock and it wasn’t nice at all to cruise at lower speeds or follow traffic! I’ve not long had an Arrow Decat system fitted along with a BHP UK stage 2 ECU flash and that has absolutely transformed the ride ability down low and the transition off and on the throttle is night and day difference from before and very settled and smooth! I think the Euro 5 emissions ruin what the manufacturers have to do with the fuelling on these bikes and they have to run them very lean to meet strict regulations! I’d love to ride either of those bikes, their absolutely stunning but I can understand from a proper touring standpoint the M1000XR is probably the better option and I’d imagine the fuel economy is better suited for its purpose as we know the desmo V4 engines love a good drink!! 😅 Keep up the great content mate! Kind regards, Scott.

This really reinforced that the Pikes Peak I own is exactly what I need as I MUST carry my tiny wife and have panniers. The PP motor once mapped is the ticket. Very accessible in-gear acceleration especially once mapped. It's still the best bike to do the pillion/day tour in a sporty manner. Fastest top-end isn't always best.

I was considering Multi V4, but after 300 mile test ride of Pikes Peaks borrowed from a friend, it made me realize it wasn’t fast enough for me. When MXR came out it was the bike for me. Vibrations can be mostly solved with bar end weights. I already have 9000 miles on MXR with catless Akra header after a few months and it is excellent. I can fit all my luggage into a small rear seat mounted soft bag. MXR > Multi if you want superbike performance in a tourer.

People who have ridden both will know and agree! This is a perfect example! Wishing you many more happy miles on your MXR!
@GGMM42
@GGMM42 11 күн бұрын
The bigest problem with the MXR is the lack of laguage options. No panniers and no top box (V4RS doesn't have a top box option either) make it very unsuited for touring. Also, Manny, you're lugging the V4 engine. You're always in a too higher gear, that's why you feel the lack of torque. The Granturismo V4 in the Pikes Peak is indeed torquier at lower revs, but I find that engine much less engaging, and it seems that's what you were looking for. Anyway, I agree the MXR is a bit better, and way cheaper, but the inline-4 buzzing negates all of that for a touring bike.

You can get a full of boxs for the multistrada.
@Motomillion

Lugging it because it lags torque. You can do higher gear, lower revs on the M1000XR, the torque makes the ride much smoother and possible. Both great bikes, however M1000XR is undisputed in this case. Anyone who rides them back to back says the same.
@GGMM42

@@pjconey Only side panniers. You can't get a top box with the RS. You need to modify the tail section and replace it with a standard V4 tail.

@@MotomillionThis is an engine that revs to almost 13k RPM. Keeping it in the 6th gear at 3k RPM is lugging it. Use lower gears. Max torque is at 8.5-9k RPM, and it starts making torque from 5k RPM upwards. Instead of doing 6th gear with 3k RPM do 2nd gear with 6k RPM and you'll see the response will be different. I'm somehow puzzled about what you were doing and how you were riding the bike, it's really counter-intuitive.

you can raise the forks in the triple clams on the RS for about 7mm. I did this change on my v4 pikes peak and it really changes how the front end feels (ducati even admited that it needed this and changed the pivot point on the new 2025 mts v4)

Well, I am biased as I own a 24 M1XR competition package. Plus, one thing not mentioned is the cost of ownership. Need a fatter wallet with the Ducati. If I am not mistaken didn't 650IB have the clutch fail twice on the Ducati? Or maybe that was his Panigale?
@Motomillion
@Motomillion 10 күн бұрын
No clutch failures on the RS. On the Panigale V4R it was not a failure, it is just a nature of the dry clutch that you will need to change your clutch packs every 2000-3000 miles, the cost is very minimal though.
@JohnJay1745
@JohnJay1745 11 күн бұрын
The M-XR is not available with manufacturer panniers. That seems odd for a motorcycle marketed as a tourer. The gas mileage and fuel range on the RS and M-XR are terrible when you hustle. On long-distance touring motorcycle trips, you want to get at least 200 miles per tank. To get 200 miles per tank on these bikes you would have to ride slow and steady, and what's the point of that? Finally, the phrase "Hyper-Tourer" sounds like an oxymoron. The characteristics that make a hyperbike fun, make it less desirable for touring. The obvious answer is to get a hyperbike and a touring bike.
@iamthemobey
@iamthemobey 11 күн бұрын
Completely agree. And the SXR as well as the standard multi still have more than enough power, better torque. Just better engines for the application. I feel like these bikes are either for people that want the "best" even if it's massively compromised or those that can't fold themselves into sport bike or naked. Seems like a small market to me.
@JohnJay1745
@JohnJay1745 11 күн бұрын
@@iamthemobey - You raise several interesting points. I own an S1000R for fun and a Tiger 900 Rally Pro for long trips. I love riding the S1kR and took a test ride on the SXR. The SXR has the same character as the S1kR but it's horribly uncomfortable primarily because the seat locks you in one position. I bought the Tiger because it's super comfortable for long trips and it gets to 100 MPH fast enough for a touring. Power at the top of the rev range rarely matters while touring. On long trips, I ride over 100 mph 1% of the time. The MXR and V4RS are really cool, but not for long-distance touring.

The BMW engineering seems extraordinarily special compared to the Ducati. The Ducati Brand hands down is super sexy. But for functionality relatively speaking compared to the BMW, there's a lot of aftermarket parts that you have to put on to make it comparable. That generally it comes standard with the BMW. And then there's always the price point that you have to take in consideration with both platforms. Manny, I'm glad to see you stepping outside your comfort Ducati box. LoL

The BMW m1000 XR vibrates a lot in the handlebars and is in my opinion way too much. I was willing to bend a little re vibration but not that much. I test drove one and for the price point having that much vibration in the handlebars negates it as a sports touring bike. You can't go a long distance with it and it's annoying. It reminds me of my 2-stroke Yamaha RZ 500, fun to ride, but then it becomes work after an hour . The Ducati has the blind spot detection in the mirrors which is a godsend if you are indeed doing sports touring. The BMW doesn't have any of that. The Ducati has adaptive cruise, and the BMW does not. There really isn't a good aftermarket flash tune for the Ducati, but for me the Ducati Racing tune for the Akrapovič race exhaust is good enough for what I do. The Ducati loves to Rev.. shifting up and down is really up to you. The Ducati will do 70 + mph in first gear. It lets you know that it's a race engine if you want it to. If you want to drive and take it easy you can do it all day long... FYI I'm never in 6th Gear. I didn't buy a Gold Wing. It's a lot of fun. I call it Clark Kent and Superman. If you want to go fast you can certainly do that it really does ride like a Superbike, yes it's not the Panigale V4 frame but it certainly does hold its own in corners very well. I think the Ducati V4 RS is sexy and has character but that's up to whoever is looking at it I guess. To me the BMW is very sterile with out a lot of character. I think I'm starting to sound like a Ducati fanboy LOL. I'm waiting to see if in 2025 BMW does make any significant changes then it would cause me to take a second look. With the adaptive cruise control and the blind spot detection The Ducati for me is truly a Hypersport touring bike, especially with 190 horsepower and fully adjustable suspension. Lastly if so inclined you can put on Pannier's( suitcases) with the BMW again you can't. Those are some of the reasons why I chose to go with Ducati. I can take it anywhere, or I can be a hooligan whenever I want. Thanks for the great video! PS... my bike is loaded with Motomillion parts... they are the best especially with product and customer support. They answer the phone unlike many that only communicate in emails.

The M-R and M-RR both vibrate their handlebars (greatly improved by Evotech bar ends), but these largely smooth out once you've covered about 5k. The M-XR is the first XR generation that doesn't really have any vibrations, or certainly no worse than any other IL4. I've ridden a number of M bikes and owned a number of V4S Multi's (which also have handlebar vibes that can numb hands on occaisons). And from a riders perspective, the M-XR Competition is a better bike than the MTS V4S, it handles and stops better, and is simply a quicker bike over distance IMHO. And that's why I've ordered one for '25. Like MM, I've tested the MTS V4 and MXRC back-to-back.... I'm just wondering if you have you?

@@RichDunn I own a V4RS which I am speaking to certainly not on the same level as a V4S you mention.... and yes I rode a M1000xr for an entire day It had 3000 miles on it and vibrated like a lawn mower.. I wouldn't say its a better bike at all. The Ducatis brakes are better than the BMW's. Also the Ducati smokes the BMW in acceleration. The BMW will catch up and pass the Ducati in the top end. If you're into drag racing so be it. But as I said, as a hypersport tourer the BMW doesn't come close. I wouldn't say the BMW handles better. That's rider dependent. The BMW also seemed more top heavy. The Ducati sits you in the bike not on top of it. Good luck with your purchase!

When you can cruise at a higher gear with lower RPM's then it becomes much more of a comfortable experience. These are TOURING bikes after all, you want to be able to be calm when you want to be calm.
