Haha, great timing with the donut lady, there was the buildup, the suspense with the toilet paper, and then the comical resolution with the sticky purse.

The ramen place at around 15:00 is Ibuki ラーメンいぶき 1 Chome-2-3 Yunoshima, Teshikaga, Kawakami District, Hokkaido 088-3203, Japan. The campground at the lake is Kushirochotatsukobu Auto Camping Ground 達古武オートキャンプ場. The ramen shop with the rude chef is Ramen Tenjiro Kushiro Store ラーメン天二郎釧路店.

So I love these little adventure vids. I think you might consider one of those micro campers. You could carry couple of small canoes, drone equipment, and would be a great way to get out of the rain. Does kyde still work? I always wonder when you’re alone…cheers and safe travels. You found the Ramen Nazi. 😂😂😂

Think Japan asks you to have offstreet parking before allowing you to own a vehicle. Parking scooty should be a lot easier than a camper for Eric.

Guesswork but perhaps the fifth wheel and American truck are owned by an American forces member stationed at one of the American bases in Japan? Our neighbour back in the 70's was in the USAF and he brought over a large white Ford Marquis ( from memory) and the USAF shipped it over for him to the UK. He wasn't an officer but a senior enlisted man. Nice guy too.

Ahh, that sucks about the restaurant experience... Reminds me of a time I was in Portugal and the owner was so unwelcoming and rude (despite the food being good). It can really sour the entire experience. My friend said it best, "I guess they don't like money." 😅

33:05 I'm glad you talked about this thing......sometimes Japanese people can really be pretentious especially the adults...pretending to be knowledgeable or sometimes pretending to be busy at all times....but don't get me wrong...I love Japan...been there 8 times already since 2017...and I'm hoping to be back there again next year

You definitely need a referral for Ibuki Ramen in Teshigata to find it. When we were in the area we visited the much more popular Teshigata Ramen (Retaurant) and even had to wait for maybe 20 minutes to get a seat. I remember it being quite tasty. The floaty bit is 'Fu' wheat gluten.

Funnily enough we ate at the same ramen joint in Kushiro. It did seem a bit rough around the edges but we didn't encounter anything I would say is rude. Noodles were on point. My guess is that it was understaffed that day. We ate in the evening and I remember there being at least 2 people working there. The traditional downtown area of Kushiro is so run down. It was shocking to be honest.

One thing: boiling point of water changes with altitude. At 3000m above sea level is 89° C. May be they were saying: Is boiling water here as hot as at sea level? :D

Weird, I thought red-crowned crane is something like a national bird in Japan. It's even on JAL logo, and countless ukiyo-e works. The more you know I guess... 😀 P.S. I'm watching this along with your hitchhiking playlist, quite an experience!

Gone are the days when I just had to type “ky” into the search and your channel would appear. Since my football team signed a Japanese player called Kyogo, my autocomplete gremlins have somewhat shifted. Now I have to go all the way to “kyd” I feel like I’ve cheated on you. I will make this right. I promise. Just give me a chance. (I’m also silently hoping you won’t wonder why I wasn’t at just “k” and needed to add the “y”)
