Motorcycle Builder Chris Richardson of LA Speed Shop | Easyriders

For Chris Richardson, owner of LA Speed Shop in Los Angeles, the keys to a great build are simplicity and maneuverability.
“Here in California, we can split lanes,” he says. “So the tighter, skinnier, and lighter - almost like a bicycle - I can make the bike, the better. I like to be able to throw it around in traffic like it’s nothing.”
The Sailor Jerry bike featured in this video got hit with a dash more flash, thanks to Richardson's buddy, artist Michael “Buck” Ramirez of BuckWild Brand.
“Sailor Jerry was looking to build a bike to help promote their brand. They saw my 1947 Knuckle and said they wanted me to build another bike like it. I explained I wouldn’t do another bike like this, but I could do you something similar. They were like, ‘No, we want this bike. Will you sell us it?’ I suggested they pay me to rip it apart, rebuild it all new, have it painted with tattoo flash, and they could rent it from me. Deal done!”
The build has since traveled across the United States and as far as Switzerland on tour for fleet weeks.
