For me best sounding and looking is the second one. It sounds so good and looks like if a cheap guy took his plumber dad pipelines and put it on the bike, which in essence is cafe racer style, modding a bike cheaply to run faster!

I really love the sound of the stock exhaust and being able to hear the gear whine while riding. Of course a true tuned reverse cone with correct cone length and diameter will benefit overall dynamics of engine performance. G.P. Racing bike tuners knew the formulas for appropriate builds for specific engine displacement regarding exhaust tuning and manufacture of header and reverse cone dimensions. Example, MV-August and Hondas hay day of GP racing. Same can be said for two-stroke expansion chamber designs for G.P. and flat track, ie; Kenny Roberts TZ-750. In the early seventies I raced Yamaha and Suzuki moto-cross bikes. A company called Torque Engineering made a performance tuned expansion chamber for my bikes, 100cc and 250 respectively. These were down-sweep designed for maximum exhaust scavenging and performance at mid and high throttle positions. Same techniques are employed for correct size header and reverse cone exhausts for four stroke engines. I have a newly purchased Royal Enfield 2022 Continental GP-650. After this bike is broken in, I plan on building an exhaust for my bike, using dimensions from bore and stroke performance figures from Royal Enfield Racing Division. 👍👍🏁🏁

I have the brushed steel TEC cone silencers and their straight through header pipes (no inner pipe and no cats). Both really improved performance and I'm happy with the sound, but I like the look of those slash cut silencers.

I put a Verex (made in Tasmania) straight through polished stainless system on my Interceptor which looks and sounds awesome. Dumped a bit over 11kgs, and picked up nearly 4hp and 3.5 nm torque, according to the dyno.

I prefer the sound of the second one but #3 looks best. I do think #2 might be a good candidate to make a budget BAAK inspired exhaust setup. Running the mufflers through a bandsaw to get a straight edge on it and cutting the stock exhaust under the engine would come close.
@RideWithJerry2 жыл бұрын
I agree. I like the sound on #2 more and was hoping to get that sound on #3; I just like the look of #3 a lot more. I thought about cutting the header pipes for #2 but if I screw up or want to put the stock back on it will become a lot more expenseive!

So I bought the reverse cone mufflers after watching this video and I do like the way the sound, but I do find I get a bit of exhaust leakage at the back of the muffler where it meets the header pipe. If there anything you did to try and snug things up a bit/straighten the mufflers out to make the fit more seamless? Great video though, really awesome comparison!!
@RideWithJerry Жыл бұрын
I used a couple reducers to get a tight fit. I also used some exhaust silicone gasket sealant, used the original stock clamp NOT the cheap one provided with the exhaust. And finally, make sure you get it on as straight as possible. I have another video where I show how I installed the exhaust kzbin.info/www/bejne/qonWgoWIgcl7ha8

@@RideWithJerry I think where I went wrong is that the stock muffler attaches to the back via an additional black bracket that has two screw holes which I left on, I just attempted to retro fit the new muffler to that but found that the little extension arm doesn’t fit to it at all. I’ll try taking that off, I think that’ll solve my problem! Thanks so much for linking your tutorial video, creep up the great work with the channel!!

I tried two different baffles (inserted into the existing baffle.) The first one I used was 45mm width and it fit perfectly BUT I didn't like the sound it produced. I then swapped with a different baffle but I couldn't find the exact size. It's 48mm so the top of the inserted baffle sits on top of the existing baffle. I had to drill a hole and bolt it in place, a pain in the ass, but eventaully got it to work & sound the way I wanted.

@RideWithJerry2 жыл бұрын
The stock is way too big, especially since I cut the frame for the shorty tail. And yes, they do stick out but I think it may look awkward due to the narrow rear tire. I'll be adding a wider tire on the back, changing it from a 130 to 150, so that may help improve the look from the rear.

For $0 extra you could have avoided pissing off your neighbors and everyone else in the world you happen to drive by. What is it with wanting to make more noise? If you like that do the rest of us a favor and put on some bluetooth earbuds and have your smartphone play something so loud that you will be needing hearing aids before you are 45. The extra weight down low is really a non-issue. Are you racing? Buy a faster motorcycle. Lose some weight yourself. Silence is golden, and no I am not wanting an electric motorcycle. The stock exhausts with their air pollution (HC, CO, NOx) reduction catalysts are perfectly fine with me. Btw, why didn't you record the sound as heard from the rider's position on the bike? The answer is you want to know how cool you think your bike will sound to "other people". News for you, 99% of the rest of the world hates the excess noise you throw at them.
