I am every bit as happy as you are about Spring arriving Sandy. I love this time of year and all of the promise that it has to offer. The weather here right now is not quite Spring like yet, but it is just around the corner from that. Give it a week or two and things will be on the full turn I think. I know that you always make the best of whatever conditions that you are dealing with but I also know that you are more than ready to get out there on your bikes and enjoy some warmer and drier offerings. Have fun out there my friend and thanks as always for letting us hang out with you for a while. See you on the next one.

It is a steep price Robert, and I'm still coming to terms with the amount! But it means the bike will be a keeper for another 3 or 4 years, so in the longer term I may see a saving!? The only advantage of having the dealer do this bigger service is they give an extra 1 year warranty and can update the electronics on the bike

@WiltshireMan10 ай бұрын
Sounds to me like you got a very good price. Local Suzuki dealers charge £850 if there needs to be a shim change, if not then it's less but I don't know by how much. The service includes New spark plugs ( two per cylinder), New air filter, New coolant, Brake a clutch fluid change, software update, a complete check over and also get an additional 1 year extra Suzuki warranty which could be useful as the bike is now 6 years old!
@1960ARC10 ай бұрын
@@WiltshireMan I used to do the valves myself on my vespa as there is tons of information on how. My SH125i, not so much. They also changed the belt (or so they said) , rollers and spark plug. The belt snapped at half its service interval, leaving me to push the bike for three miles, was not happy. I do all the belt changes now. Thanks for the info!

I'm a fan of the V Stroms and i'm on my second 650, they're great bikes. I'll be interested to know if any shims need replacing on your 15K mile service. I do all my own servicing, apart from valve check which would be too much work for me nowadays on the Strom. Although i do also have a Honda NC750X, the valves are much easier to get to on that, so i may do that myself when its due. Old school screw & locknut as well.

I've given up paying for valve checks, they never need adjustment on the 3 vstroms I've had. As long as the ECU has been updated on the 1000 and the wiring harness issues have been dealt with they are great bikes. I'd highly recommend a Givi Airflow, cheap and transforms the bike for touring

The More money than sense was just a joke Terry, Ahhh, yess it's a lot of money, but this service requires a lot of work that I'm not comfortable doing like removing all the fairings and tank and also updating any software on the bike (engine map) that I simply couldn't do, also removing cams and reshimming if required (if no shims are needed the price will be cheaper), They will fit new plugs (2 per cylinder) balance the throttle bodies, new clutch and brake fluids including the abs system, fresh oil and filter and air filter and I'll get an extra years warranty for what thats worth? This service is once every 15K miles which for me is every 4 years or thereabouts. All other services which are just oil and filter I do myself one every year
