Great. Brings back good memories. I used to watch scrambling at my local track at Jewels Hill in Kent in the 60s. Can 1960 really be 50 years ago???

Does the footage still exist on cine film? Since 8mm or Super8 is near HD Quality normally, and a transfer to Betamax would have been a loss of resolution? I have transferred cine film to MP4 before now, using a frame scanning machine, at two frames a second.

The only reason the quality is not that good, is that it was uploaded in 2007, at that time youtube would only allow very small files, so it had to be a low quality video, I have a better copy of it somewhere.

@@megasuggs Ok, well I live in Shrewsbury, hence the interest, would love to see the better quality video as I used to spectate at Hawkstone about 30 years ago, and I don't think I've ever seen any video from there apart from broadcast reports occasionally.

Ive got an old BBC Grandstand race featuring Jeff Smith etc. In black and white. Problem is its on betamax, anyone know if it can be digitised so I can upload it .Its an awsome race

It can be digitised, no problem, but you need to get hold of an old betamax machine to play it on, there are firms who could do it for you, but at a price.
