The custom early Goldwing was cool. Looks like a period Wixom handlebar fairing and bags all nicely colour coordinated. The red and white 650 Yamaha was a 1972 XS2, the first year for a disc brake and electric starter.

Great video, great show, one of my favorite annual events to attend. The CB-X you featured (outside) is actually my motorcycle, but it is a 1980 model, not a 1979. The glove compartment in the tail piece is the easiest way to tell the Super Sport models apart, since the ‘80 has it and the ‘79 does not. I’d also be remiss if I didn’t mention your omission of possibly the most rare Japanese cult classic ( even more rare than the GB500) ever imported to the US market that was present inside Martin Moto and actually seen in the background “twice” in your video. I’m speaking of the one-year only, 1986 Yamaha SRX-600 Super Single factory café sport bike. Equipped with asymmetrical twin carburetors, 2-into-1 exhaust, a four valve head and a 96mm piston like the ones in a 283CI small block Chevy, this 350 lb kick-start only motorcycle was one heck of a thumper and an absolute blast to ride. I should know bc I’ve owned two of them, so if you liked the cult classic Honda GB500 that you mentioned in this video, you really should have paid homage to the SRX-600 that you missed! If I see you at the Martin Moto Modern Classics Winter Bike show on March 29, 2025 I’ll tell you more about this very rare Yamaha classic motorcycle from my direct experience.

@bdento59 Right on! I appreciate the insight into the CBX and SRX. I like owning the classic machines because it is the best way to get to know all the little details about them. I've had quite a few, but not a CBX or SRX yet. I would love to do a review on a CBX at some point. Cheers!

Really enjoy your videos so much. Grew up with these bikes when they were still new, in brochures and magazines. Such classy machines and beautiful classic colors. Makes me miss my cycles a lot more seeing them now. As kids, buddies and me would hit the local motorcycle shop every weekend - which was best - Honda - Yamaha - Kawi - Suzuki - though none of us were old enough to ride any of them. When the CB750-Four came out - Oh jeeze. Then my sisters BF got one - Gold model - oh, man. Sure, take her for a ride. Unforgettable sound when he took off.

Yep Jon, I've got my '75 Red, Honda CB400F s/s with now 17K original miles on it, I have to get the clutch cable connected to the lever, and now > do some tapping on the carb bowls to get it to stop pissing fuel all over the garage, so I can start it up, and run it. Pretty soon gonna sell it. I've owned it since '82, our Honda Shop took it in on a trade in, and I bought it right before going into the USMC.

2:00 the Suzuki RGV-250 is the last pure sports 250 cc two stroke machine , no other manufacturer produced new models after that . The RGV is also the First two stroke 250 to have electric start , every other pure sports 250 two strokers only came with kick starter . This RGV is the Last Action Hero ....... in few years time price will go super high due to it's rare value .

The Yamaha XS 650 special was a huge seller but what a clunker but now people want those motors .Goldwing was initially presented as a sporty bike I believe and they realized it was a great platform to add touring crap to,luggage stereo fairing,running boatds...on and on.
@jonsmotorcyclerescueandrev35382 ай бұрын
Right on, Paul! I would love to try one of the early, naked Goldwings. My dad had one with all of the added touring bits. It sure didn't help performance but it still handled well. Cheers!
