Warning! Using penetrant lubes like WD-40 can cause damage to inner clutch cable linings, always use lubes that are made specifically for cable lubrication and that are safe for linings. When in doubt check for manufacturer recommendations.

@trekbsg - You need to get the WD-40® Specialist® High Performance Silicone Lubricant. WD-40® Specialist® High Performance Wet PTFE: Safe to use on all metal and most non-metal surfaces including glass, vinyl, rubber and plastic.

Odd , it was not until just now I thought about how old some of my cables actually are. The Choke was changed the other day, but in lubricating cables for my bike that had been in storage for over 32+ years, WD40 penetrated down inside where the cable slides. Like forgetting what a head ache is like when not having one, I'm going to make sure I lube that cable shortly again - thanks for the reminder -

I hope next time you used lube rather than a water dispersant.

@@rogerborg Thanks for the heads up. WD40 is a silicone lube - it will disperse the grease on your hands

Why make things more complicated by removing the clutch lever when you can just remove the cable housing from the adjuster and pull the cable out?

oops too late damn whats going to happen!
@richieschmidt62253 жыл бұрын
@@kylebishop9096 wd40 isn't a lubricator but rather a solvent. It cleans very well but will not sufficiently lubricator the cable and sheathing. You will likely get a couple nice pulls in before it feels gummy and dry again.
