@@Keka-vg3ut Yeah, I agree with you there. I thought by tuning you meant making physical changes to the suspension, not just making use of the adjustments. The 850GS they had for test rides in the dealership had basically all the upgrades you can sensibly put into it that added close to 50% of the base price to the bike.... As for the T7 - it's a cheap bike that basically has nothing but good engine and slim body - does not mean it's bad, it's just for a different kind of adv rider.
@stevecade8574 жыл бұрын
KTM and Yamaha are coming at the middleweight adventure bike (offroad biased) from two different aproaches. One expensive and high tech and one built for a price and low tech. That to me is a great thing as it gives potential purchasers a great choice. From what I've seen though the T7 suffers from poor suspension and lacks the ultimate power delivery of the 790. If truth be told the KTM has far to much power for use offroad and you can rework the T7s suspension and still have a fantastic bike for less money than the KTM. You'll just be lacking all the high tech the KTM comes with (TC, bluetooth, TFT, QS - optional etc) but that stuff is not for everyone anyway.

I'm not so sure how it would do. The Triumph Scramblers (Street & 1200) share two shortcomings as adventure bikes. First, luggage. So far, nobody has come up with a good option for dual bags. The second problem is the stance. The high pipe routing forces a weird bow legged stance on the bike, at least for me. I always feel like my right foot is about to slip off to the side because of the pressure from the pipe. Perhaps it bugs me so much because it's asymmetrical. The right leg is pushed, the left not.

My dream bike is the multistrada 950 I don't think I can ever justify the money. The f900xr is a good try but falls short in many ways only a twin, down on power. suspension is nowhere near as good. And the triumph would get left behind 95hp vs 115hp and the tiger has narrow tyres vs the other two. 100 front 150 rear the xr has 120 front 180 rear. Would all come down to price in the end. I think the rally version of the tiger is a better bike than the GT. I think for what it Is the F900xr is brilliant no other bike like this has ever been offered.

Chris Redfield Thanks for a really good breakdown. I do indeed agree that the Multistrada is my dream bike as well. After doing the financial calculations for all three bike according to the specs I want, the Triumph Tiger 900 GT Pro would set me back £12,800. While the BMW F900 XR TE would be £12,535 and the Ducati Multistrada 950 S will be £13,895. Based on pricing I want to know if the Ducati indeed is worth the extra £1360 more than the BMW. Also seem the BMW with the packs I’ve selected comes with more tech. The Tiger 900 is roughly£300 more expensive than the BMW, leavening me to wonder if the Triumph is to expensive for what it is or if it’s indeed justified?

The Tiger produces a huge amount of heat onto the rider; deal breaker here in Texas !

I know it doesn't belong here, but I am sad when I don't see the wee strom

JustThaor I hear ya. I have '12 Wee Strom that I just love! Mind you, I don't think it's really for off road other then gravel roads... Thinking of getting the V-Strom 1050 next.

I dont see point of these pseudo adv bikes... What theyre really for? They try to took like adv bikes but have street like ground clearance and suspension... They are SuVs of bike world imo.

That would fall into the "budget" category, and none of these bikes come close.

I would prefer the Strom!

When getting to affordability, maintenance costs and reliability side of things (which would be a major factor for me as a buyer of any bike), which one gives the best bang for your buck? Obviously the Yamaha T7 would win hands down here, but it wasn't available for you to test yet.

Which bike I'll be buying?! I'll tell you which bike I'll be buying: T7 any day of the week.

For all the kitschy but not terrible cinematography, you guys should get some better mics.

Great video. Great comparison. When does bmw make a real off-road bike? Maybe a 750gs whit all electronics (not like T700).

They need to bring back the H2 Enduro. That thing was sweet.

Why does everyone keep comparing the Adventure R to the other bikes? The regular Adventure is more comparable.

Sad you have to add it but the Andreani cartridge kit will make a a big difference in the front end of the F850. The previous F800 was dogshit. I wonder how the 850 would be if BMW offered it with a real suspension...

Check out Steve Kamrad’s review of the Triumph on advpulse.com. His opinion is best in the segment by a large margin. I rode a Rally Pro and GSA 850 back to back and have to agree. 790R or T700 are great off road but too narrowly focused in my opinion.

Exactly. These 3 all ended up going for the bike they felt best off road, instead of all round ADV!

Great bikes, but we can't honestly call them middle weight. For an off-road bike, all three are big, heavy giants. Only veteran dirt bike riders can truly ride them well off-road, dirt fire roads and easy trails aside. I think riders should be warned that such big, heavy bikes are way beyond their skill level, unless they stick to pavement and dirt roads, with no serious off-roading, much less true, long distance, remote adventure riding.

It sounds like you guys are confusing dual sport bikes with adv bikes. They are made for adventure touring, not trails...
