Brilliant tip for getting the rear tire off the ground!

Thanks for tips. Didn't realize the chain should be 'warm' when cleaned and lubed. I clean my chain with kerosene and a 3-sided chain brush and old tee-shirts.

Warming it up helps loosen things up a bit and lets the wax/oil flow batter when you spray it on. It's not necessary, but it does help. If you're in a hot climate and the bike's sitting in the sun, that would do the trick too. Thanks for watching!

Great video as usual. You've had way too much fun on that poor bike...LOL

The bike is a blast, but I find myself on my GS much more often… I need to get back on some trails!!

Good video. I've rode with shaft drives for years and have added 3 bikes with chains ⛓️. Good even as a refresher. 👍👍

Thanks for watching. The GS is my first shaft-drive in 30 years of riding. I am enjoying not having to worry about the chain, especially on long trips.

I love chain maintenance videos, and I have not had a bike with a chain for 16 years. These days it is one belt and one shaft, as a matter of fact, I put my bikes away for the season yesterday, as winter officially hit here in New Brunswick at 5:41 am this morning. Excellent video! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for watching! I do love the shaft drive on my GS… it’s great to not even have to think about it, especially on long trips. Thankfully I can ride year-round in Georgia! Stay warm and count down the days until you pull the bikes out for the spring!

@@mustachemoto Thanks! We can often go biking in relative comfort before the end of March, but now that I am 60, I think April might be more appropriate.

Thanks for the very detailed rundown on chain maintenance. You mentioned that you don’t clean but just lube your chain. Is cleaning not truly a priority?
@mustachemotoАй бұрын
Thanks for watching! Unless the chain is really dirty (lots of grit/sand/mud, or caked on grease) there isn't much need to clean it, just lube it and you're good to go.

That makes sense.

Do you clean the chain every time before lubricating ?
@mustachemotoАй бұрын
No, I rarely clean my chain... only if it's really dirty or looks gummed up.
