I have watched many reviews of the Eliminator and every single one of them says that the Eliminator is a really fantastic bike. I sat on one at the dealership and it made me want to buy it really badly because it fit me so well and looked so good. However, I ultimately decided to buy a bike that was a little bigger because I don't spend much time in town... I spend a lot of time on the interstate and on the 65 mph highways.... so I got a Honda CTX 700 which I imagine is a little better if you are on the highways all the time. It also has a frame mounted fairing and tall windshield. It was used but only had 6 thousand miles on the clock. I'm very happy with it. Anyway...Enjoy your Eliminator!!!

I rode a friend's R18. I found it ultra smooth, which I didn't expect, and outrageous amount of torque. At a standstill blipping the throttle will throw you to the side. It will cruise at 35mph in top gear, the owner claims he's getting 50mpg on his daily commute. At 6 feet tall I did find the seat to be WAY to low, which would be great if you were on the short side, but not something I could live with.

Two months after I turned 73 last summer I decided to celebrate my birthday by buying a brand new 2023 Yamaha MT-09. But don't think that because I am in my 70's that I just putt around. The "MT" stands for "Master of Torque" and that, and the reasonable price considering what you get for your money, is why I bought it. I drive it hard and fast and it is worth every penny I paid for it. It is reliable as hell and I have had absolutely no problems with it other than the fact that it pops wheelies under hard acceleration in the lower gears, which I am okay with. The recalls you mentioned were for 2015, 2021 and 2022 and they were easily resolved very quickly and lots of other bikes and cars [etc] have recalls so I don't know why you are picking on MT-09's. The dealers here sell a lot of them and they are very popular in the U.S., the UK, all of Europe, and India [etc]. I pin the throttle as much as possible when passing slower moving traffic [etc] and it still averaged 48.7 U.S. mpg over the 4,981 miles I drove it in the 6 month riding season that I had insurance on it. My close friend liked it so much that he bought one just like it, so with all due respect you clearly don't know what you are talking about...

The Kawasaki Eliminator is a very comfortable bike to ride on long distances, and the "imported parts" is a misnomer. The parts are no more imported than any other Kawasaki or Honda or Suzuki or Yamaha parts. It's the same engine in the Ninja 500 and Z500. My dealer can't keep them in stock and all the ABS models sold out immediately.The styling is very unique and beautiful and it's a lot more comfortable than the Honda Rebel 500, it's only real competition. It's very quiet and smooth with plenty of power from the stroked Ninja 400 engine making a 451cc bike (although they are called Eliminator 500 in other countries).the Super Meteor 650 for less money is just another India-built bike and the build quality has never equaled any of the Japanese bikes. It DOES NOT have a single color option. You can get it in grey, white and the two-tone model for 2024.

The problem I think with the Stelvio (at least to me), is it looks EXACTLY like the Mandello; In addition to what you said about the lack of off-road capabilities, and must be sent back to the drawing board. If I was shopping that genre, don’t know what else I’d even consider. Stelvio, as fine a bike as it is, probably wouldn’t even enter the conversation. If I were truly going on a multi day adventure far from home, the v85 the most attractive package I can think of balancing reliably, capability, great looks, and value. Guzzi needs to add back a cruiser or a muscle type sport bike like the Griso to widen their customer base. The Stelvio just steals from their already existing customer base that have more money then sense. The v85 is an awesome platform, IMO.

@@akiuliano I’ve got a v7 850 as well. I rode all the others at their open house over the summer. The Mondello really captured my heart and personally I preferred the v85 over the Stelvio. I found the v85 better looking and more comfortable, could have been my familiarity with the 850. Add the simplicity of the air cooling and shaft drive, current pricing…, the Stelvio just doesn’t make sense to me. I really can’t get excited over anything but the V85 and it’s italian flare in the adv category.

I bought a rebel after initially looking at the Eliminator. Very similar indeed. I ended up with the Rebel just because while sitting on the Rebel, the ergonomics feel slightly better to me. Anyone with a different body build could easily go the other way.

The majority of these bikes are butt ugly. We always hear the cruiser market is shrinking, but other than a fair amount of crotch rockets, cruisers are alive and well on the road. I believe that the market is trying to drive out the cruiser like the liberal media is trying to erase the conservatives. The manufacturers want to make cheap ugly plastic motorcycles with minimal chrome and finish for maximum profit. The used cruisers are very popular here in Texas. Just look how many VTX , roadstars, and Vulcans are on the road. But now the motor companies have minimal offerings. Inflation and high interest rates are stopping people from buying luxury items. These ugly ass bikes aren’t going help sales. A motorcycle is something many of us take pride in owning. If all that was available was a Pan American, I would quit riding.

The old timers that ride cruisers are aging out of the market. Harley is doing better, but even their sales are down. People bought Jap cruisers because they couldn't afford Harleys...but half of those people don't ride anymore. Marketplace is full of cheap cruisers all the time. At 72, I ride practical sportbikes...25 and 30 year old bikes from before they became too specialized.

Great points. Same is happening at the sport bike level as well. Complete restyling with focus on dumbed down cheap bargain basement styling and engineering at the expense of all the things that made them popular. Older bike values are now climbing as people aren't paying the high prices for the new junk.
