Thank you for this, very informative. First time we've seen your vlogs, and funnily enough, we realised we're in your Nurseries vlog from last year. Hubby said "I'm sure they were by us with the Guernsey plates". We had the Sunight with the red Aygo behind you. 😊 We live about 10m from Poole nr Ringwood so you never know our paths may cross again.

Excellent video. just concerned about hygiene. The black waste splashed onto the concrete surrounding the manhole and then you appeared to put your blue hose onto the same area! Has the black waste been treated before it discharges from the motorhome?
@allandelaplante1614 Жыл бұрын
I think a little clean up of the black water discharge area was in order and to drag the fresh water hose through this are seem a little out of order.

Hi I have now had 2 people point this out.I did not notice at the time and we sanitised the hose afterwards. I can assure you that the end in the van did not touch anything nasty. A rookie error. There were also purifying tabs in the water and we are still alive! Thanks for pointing this out and for liking the rest of the video.

I always have a wee hand disinfectant spray inside the hab door, lifting up the waste hatches which have other peoples waste likely splashed on the handles, can give you a nasty tummy bug.

Good idea, I usually go straight in the facilities block and give them a good wash.

Great that it has helped. We searched the internet to see how to empty a black tank and were really worried but have found that we have not had any issue.

where did you buy the van from? I'm interested in E line 6.1 LE I think its the same in side as yours but not got the dead locks it's TAG axle Mercedes.

We got it from Southdowns Motorhomes in Portsmouth. They have looked after us. The van you are looking at is what got us hooked and the only reason we went for the S Plus is that we wanted to carry more weight. If you get in touch with them please do mention that we have recommended them. We dealt with Rod Jolley and the lady on reception is Trudy, both were very helpful, both during the process and since. Happy hunting

don't you have a cassette to empty where did you get that fitted?

No cassette. The holding tank holds over 200 litres and lasts about 5 days. We specified it on the van as new so do not know about retrofitting, all I can say is we are really pleased with it.

Hi guys your driving our dream Motorhome ❤ thank you for showing us how you empty the waste, black and grey handy to know. We don’t have any sites here on the Isle of Man that have the facility so we’d be a bit scuppered 😆🤨 we’ve got a pure water tap fitted to our Motorhome which may be something you guys would benefit from it purifies your water we couldn’t be without ours now 😃 Debs and Mark xx

@valeriehayes422 Жыл бұрын
Why aren’t you using a hose? Now stuff is splashed all over.
@motoringmasons Жыл бұрын
The hose is quite short and then you have to wash it out very thoroughly. This cannot be done in the facilities, it just would not be right.The chances of dripping are higher than positioning the van correctly and if there is any spillage hosing it down and spraying it, although this is extremely rare. Where there is a 4 inch pipe to receive the waste, as in some places abroad, we use the pipe.

I have a black tank and the uk is the worst place in Europe to have a motorhome with this type instead of a cassette . Woeful lack of facilties in this country .
@motoringmasonsАй бұрын
Most of the private sites have no idea what you are talking about, but the Caravan and Motorhome Club are good and as a member , even if you don't stay there most sites will allow you to use the service point for a small fee. They are well set up with drive over manhole covers, usually one on each side, but agree with you , need to be careful where you go.

Looks to me like a lot of faffing about tbh
@motoringmasons Жыл бұрын
Sorry not to have replied I somehow missed this. It lasts about 5 days and takes about 10 minutes to do, so much less trouble than 5 days worth of cassettes and means you can stay longer off grid.

Should be a more sanitary way to do this !!!
@motoringmasons9 ай бұрын
There is a pipe, but it's short and flexible and you get dirty. This was our first attempt and we are more practised now, no spills and no touching anything horrible but we hose down as well just in case.
@paulbassett2715 Жыл бұрын
Actually, having had a 9 mtr 7.5tonne Liner for 10 years with a 150ltr black waste tank, the odours ARE still there when emptying.... be honest! No chemicals needed with cassettes and SOG ventilation. Demonstrate your beautiful motorhome by all means, but 95% of motorhomers live quite happily with cassettes and don't need to be told how inferior they are, when actually there are pros and cons to both systems. Furthermore, you should remember to use the supplied waste hose to more accurately transfer your toilet waste into the black waste drain, rather than splash it over the drain area for others to walk through. Just saying.
@motoringmasons Жыл бұрын
You are right there are pros and cons to both. This was early on in our ownership, we do not splash waste for others to walk in and , although not included in the video we always wash down just in case. We can agree to differ on this one and at least it does not do my back in! Hope you enjoy the rest of our videos. More will be coming in the not too distant future but Alan is still recovering so we have not been away since July and are desperately missing the motorhome.
@dereknterry11 ай бұрын
Hi - my experience with cassettes is that they definitely do need the chemicals as well - the blue stuff - to manage the odours etc that can accumulate, even when there is a SOG present, and which today is almost a standard. Too often while waiting my turn to empty the cassette, one gets the pong from a cassette that is not suitably treated! It may be all "natural waste", but it does smell, hence the need to treat it! Absolutely agree with your point about using the necessary waste hose while emptying! Nevertheless, a beautiful camper!

and we would have had to do it 10 times not just once! Also no nasty chemicals or smells, but each to their own.
