Please forgive my ignorance as I'm going to be new to the game. As I'm looking around now for a van I'm staggered still by the cost. So my question is why are motorhomes so much more vastly expensive when compared to a equivalent berth caravan? Caravans tend to offer more space more equipment when compared to a motorhome. Great show I've learnt so much from you both and your a joy to watch with your lighthearted banter. Many thanks Phil.

I've just traded in my electric van for a new diesel van conversion. My EV was the worst vehicle I've ever owned. Yes very cheap to run from a home charger but out of town (public charger) it was very expensive. Like you both said the infrastructure is not there yet. The range was 143 on a hot summers day but in winter more like 110!! I even took the seats out of the rear to lighten the load😂 There is no way that main converters would contemplate the ev vans currently on the market. I think it will be many years before solutions are found.

Thanks for the advice. Having just bought my new to me Elddis Majestic 125 a week ago, I'm hoping to use it once or twice during the winter months. It seems the best option for me is to drain it down after each trip just in cse! I was adv ised to install a small oil filled radiator and keep in on low t/o . I've pulled the blinds down and purchased an external cover for the cab area. It's a good point about leaving cupboard doors open. I'll do that too. Thanks guy's . I'm really looking forward to getting away

Just come back from a couple of months in Spain covering 4000 miles, I can't imagine what the range anxiety would be like in an electric vehicle. The new Ducato front is hideous and reminds me of Silence of the Lambs. James May said on Top Gear about 10 years ago that Hydrogen was the way to go and I agree. Cheers K.

I think when the trauma boiler dumps due to frost, you just have to push the blue button back in only and not touch the knob, would be great if this could be clarified please👍

I think Diesel or petrol campervans will be around a long time because more and more people are seeking the remote corners of the world. The only way you can do that is with a campervan. However, these locations are also where electric hook-ups are less prevalent. Thus, I think electric campervans will lose value quicker than petrol/diesel ones. Personally, my problem as a single pensioner on limited means, is whether I buy a more affordable campervan to live in, (which also means higher mileage/maintenance), or sink most of my nestegg into a newer one with less mileage/maintenance. One of the other issues I think looming on the horizon though, is the government making it ever harder to live in one, because they see people going 'off-grid' and therefore harder to track. It's also a lot of lost revenue for them. (Council tax etc). Anyhow, keep talking guys. Lot's of useful information coming out here.

Hi both, great video, and tips, thank you. We’ve recently purchased a 2018 Autotrail Fronier Scout, you actually sold it 3 years ago, to the chap we bought it from, and we love it. It has Solar and 2 batteries, but want to give the batteries a good charge up in doors. Would it be ok to take one of the batteries off at a time, and charge them, if I’m careful with the leads? I’ve read that you need to disconnect the solar in order to do this? Can I just cover up the solar panel, so it’s not producing any power, but there again, it will be charging up the battery that I leave on the van whilst I charge the other battery. We both love your videos, you’re very entertaining. Thanks guys.

Just sold my old electric leaf , great cheap car to run if you can trickle charge at home and don't commute too far . As far as motorhome s and trucks going the electric route kev had it right ..payload ! The weight of the vans and trucks and range they need to keep them diesel . This carbon footprint is a scam , it's 0.04 of the atmosphere, if it goes below 0.2 the plants and us die . Put the tax on fuel , people will drive less ,and more economical. Great youtubers been watching for years .

Big fan of BEV’s. No infrastructure for Hydrogen. But for a camper I still think Diesel is the way to go at present. Range not quite there particularly if wild camping in my opinion. If using sites well that may well be different.

Hi how comes when you do your walk around there are loads of motorhomes and campervans in the background, but on your website there is only a handful, do you sell via other channels like autotrader.

Love the channel guys 👍I've been looking for a while and I'm slowly becoming disheartened so may I ask, How much will the new road tax effect ownership ? Unfortunately this may be another nail in the coffin

Hydrogen is definitely the way to go at the moment depreciation and electric vehicles is so great up to 50% of the price people are losing on new electric vehicles after one year or two years. Dealership are not buying them back either. As Kev said many are investing in hydrogen. I work in the industry and I know the estimate for electric vehicles sales is only going to 30% of the market in the future.

Regarding electric motorhomes, electric trucker on KZbin, which is impressive enough, has an electric motorhome charging in the background. Not sure what it is but the do exist.

An all electric motor home would be absolutely useless to us as we are 99% off grid so how could we charge it to go home we could go back to caravanning but again if the tow vehicle is all electric we aren’t going home again basically we’d have to give it all up
@karllake89764 күн бұрын
Not interested in electric I think it will be postponed over fossil fuel vehicles the infrastructure isn’t there and funny how big manufacturers are focusing on hydrogen fuel and hybrid vehicles

Even New New shape, as an example, Swift Carrera 2025, being discounted from Swift NEC & Dealership by £5000. So, does not matter the age, the whole industry is on a complete reset & the way the economy is forecast, expect even greater resets in 2025. £5000 off brand new, then expect to see £10,000 off 2nd hand stock during 2025, as stock continues to stack-up.

I think Electric vehicles are a non starter I recon there would need financial assistance to make sure that campsites and park ups have the infrastructure to enable them to charge ev motorhomes they’re struggling to put the infrastructure in place to charge cars the grid cannot cope. With hydrogen the infrastructure is already there just need to swop out diesel/petrol tanks with hydrogen at filling stations

Kevs a bit Outdated. Why don’t you change him to someone younger, more modern. He is talking about someone’s future pride and joy, plus the fact you are trying to sell them. How insulting.
