Correction, Portugal never had a civil war. The fort held the political prisoners during Salazar's dictatorship rule. His rule ended April 25 1974 with the "Carnation Revolution" which lasted one day. We love your channel!

What a great beach to open the video with. The bridge certainly puts the Severn and Queen Elizabeth Bridges to shame. The lace making statue is very similar to one in Luton Museum - Luton was very famous for lace making too. Really enjoyed this video. Lovely place, perfect pace to the video and well put together 😊

Enjoyed the video we spent three longish periods in Peniche in our motorhome in 2014,15 and 17 in the winter. Great little town and wonderful beaches, we stayed at the municipal campsite right by the main beach leading up to Baleal, at the time it used to be €5.10 pn Inc electric. Great memories

We visited Peniche for 5 days last month and stayed in an apartment ( look up guesthouse beach break Portugal Pure ) just up the road from the motor home park. We loved Peniche but have to say the motor home park looked rather like a bus depot!

You are a great photographer. Congratulations! About the fortress of Peniche, there was no civil war in 25/4/74; we had an coup d'état and the prisoners were freed that day. They were communists, socialistas, anarchists and other enemies of State and became the ones in power in Portugal ever since. That's why we went from a world empire to a shit-hole. Cheers.

loved following your journey down through France Spain and Portugal. We came down through France into Spain last autumn, about 5 weeks but thinking about being more adventurous this year and going on to Portugal. Hope I'm not being too intrusive but just wondered what you did about travel insurance for a long trip away?

Hi Marion , it's really great to hear that you have enjoyed the videos, it makes it worth while for us. We use the Caravan and Motorhome Club Red Pennant Insurance. We have been travelling to Europe since 2017 and have spoken to lots of people who have claimed on their insurance with varying levels of success, but we have never heard anyone say anything bad about the club in the even of a claim for assistance. Hi Paul we use a Toll Tag from www.emovis-tag.co.uk/subscription/ . Covers Spain/Portugal it’s easy and they will probably get one to you in a couple of days they are UK based . You could call them to make sure you get one in time. It’s deducted straight from your account. Otherwise you will need one of the options listed on this page www.portugaltolls.com/en#como-pagar . Some of the roads are fully electronic and don’t have booths. Hope that helps best wishes and happy travels Helen and Martin
