Motorised Valom Hampden 1/72

I wanted to build a Hampden for some time but didn't really fancy the old Airfix kit.
So when I saw this on Ebay for a knock down price I thought I would give it a go. These kits seem to be quite expensive from various sellers and not just Ebay but I don't know why..This kit although it looked pretty good on opening the box turned out to be quite basic.. Lacking internal detail and no way of having the props spinning unless you want to do some extra work. Spinning props is not essential I know but in my book it's a must . Maybe it's the extra etch and resin parts that make if so much money.
Nice to see that there appears to be 2 restoration projects of the Hampden currently in the world..One in Canada and the other here in the UK
Anyway, the kit builds into a nice model but there are several flaws that I pick up on in the video..

The stress cracks on the front canopy will disappear with a quick spray of clear coat or quick shine!

Superb work, Mike. The build/painting are top notch. Motorizing the engines Is Fantastic. One suggestion. You need a crew in the plane for the engines to run. I always add crew figures to my planes. Happy modeling. Bill

That would be a nice touch but pilot figures are not always available. Where do you get yours Bill, if the kit doesn't come with or are missing them?

It is a bigger model than I usually do but I don't think it is out of scale...A Wellington bomber in 1/72 is even bigger.

Nice work, a shame about the glass not fitting properly, but you did a great job fixing it. The only thing I can think of for the fractures that appeared later on would be to dip or apply Future Clear floor wax (Known as Pledge these days) which of course would be difficult to do after it had been fixed into place. Just something to think about in the (excuse the pun, FUTURE 😅). One question if I may, You didn't do it in this video but what size tube do you use to fit over the motors shaft to extend the shaft? Did I say shaft too many times? Keep them coming, these are great videos

Hi Dirk... I have a bottle of the even older KLEAR which I use on my models, and I did think of doing what you suggested. But I came to the same conlusion....how do I get it in there. What I should have done is fix it in position as best I could then leave that part of the model for a while to see if anything developed...and atleast have a chance of doing something about it...even if it didn't work out..

Thank you 👍 I get them on ebay... Just search for micro motors, you will find...There are lots of different sizes...I mostly use 4mmx8mm or 6mmx12mm
