Do a test with the stock pipe and remove the end cap vs the mz65 clone. The results will be much much closer . Also stock pipe with stock jetting is rich so there is a power loss there compared to the clone.

kjsmolik brings up a good point. If the MZ65 Clone's expansion chamber is not effecting performance, than there is a good chance that a cap removal on the stock exhaust should give similar results, assuming you live in an area where you can get away with the noise ofc. :)

@@LAHover personally simply removing the baffle cap of a stock exhaust will never make as much power increase as a ktm65 or ktm65sx pipe. It just simply isnt designed for resonate flow. To each is own though. Personally i run a ktm 65sx on a ZL40MM crank with a Falcon 911 cylinder, ktm pipe is MUCH better than the stock, even baffle cap removed, also better than even gutted. Just personal preference tho ig

@@LAHover for the record bro i am also referencing a real ktm65 basic dirt bike pipe rather than the clone WC80 styles so chances are your results are exactly like mine haha, to be fair its all in the name. A clone isnt going to do as well as a standard db pipe but its certainly better than nothing personally (for the record the first time i ever hit 50 mph was with a gutted stock exhaust, didnt do it very fast but could wind up like hell lol)

Any chance we could run a test with a silencer that will get the dbs wound out down below 95db which is about bylaw and neighbor pi$$ing off volume. Where I live there is absolutely no way I can run the better pipe (probably even the stock)unsilenced or I'll have the cops on my doorstep every day! Thanks.

with a 2-stroke swapping out a straight pipe with an expansion chamber is like putting a turbo on a 4 stroke. 30+ years ago an old timer/ old school racer said it best. Putting an expansion chamber pipe on a 2-stroke is a sonic supercharger, as the pipe gets bigger it creates a negative pressure between the exhaust port and sound wave pulling out the burnt gasses and even some fresh air/fuel charge, as the pipe decrease in size it pishes the fresh charge back into the cylinder increasing the pressure at time of port closure acting like a supercharger/turbo. My person ride was a TRX250R with a grand national MX porting to boost midrange power, pipe/chamber was an LRD adjustable/tunable chamber where I could lengthen or shorten where the reverse cone started. With the MX porting and the pipe set in the middle my little 250 would DESTROY 350 Banshee and quadzilla 500 on the MX track. For bottom end punch lengthen the chamber, top end shorten the chamber. Class dismissed LOL

I got one of them pipes , it did help in getting to top ram a little quicker. Can't say it actually run better with the exception of when it was singing. I expected more. After taking a good look at the pipe with seem to be made out of cheap electrical conduit pipe rather than exhaust pipe. The pipe was shoved in like 6 inches on the one side and 4 or 5 inches on the other side. I cut the welds pulled the pipes out and rewelded them. Actually works better now. Not sure if the volumemetric is right for this motor but helps Like you said in one earlier video relating to bang for the buck keep em cheep a little elbow work and fun

When you're ready to build your own pipe leave one variable, that being a stinger that can slide into the expansion chamber and back being clamped at any given point, thus creating a variable back pressure which will help with the scavenging effect. I once did r&d for Kawasaki and that trick saved tons of time when testing expansion theories on dyno tuned pipes

ive made two expansion chambers for these bikes, I think the basic things to note are that the longer the header pipe is, the lower rpm range it will help. If its too short, your bike might not even get into the rpm range where the expansion chamber is useable. The length of the diffuser come also affects this. The angle of the diffuser cone affects how wide of an rpm band it affects. Lower angle = more range less peak power. I think since these bikes don’t have gears, a long and low angle diffuser cone is the way to go. As for where the expansion chamber kicks in on the rpm band, make sure your back sprocket is big enough to allow you to reach these higher rpms if you have a shorter header. Expansion chamber body diameter should be about 2.5 time header diameter/ exhaust port diameter. the stinger diameter should be about 65% the header diameter. These are the approximate figures I used (going off some other guy who did something similar) Theres a lot more I could go into regarding expansion chamber angles, diameters, and lengths but that’s the basics I’d say. If you want to have one of my expansion chambers I’ll send pictures and sell it to you if you’re interested.

I got my bike running so amazingly good. I didn't have a jet kit, and my bike was always 4 stroking making me think it was really broken. It was 4 stroking bad. What I did was I had a spare YD 100 carb from a friend, and I took the jet out of the regular carb and put it. In the yd100 carb since it had a bigger intake barrel, and moved the pin all the way up and now it gained 5 mph and the pull with a high compression head with an expation chamber is freaking insane. It pulls from stops no problem and mid-top end makes me fall back on my seat. It's pretty sweet. Top speed is only 29 mph though. It 4 strokes a tiny bit at full throttle at 29 mph. I ordered. A jet kit so hopefully. If I jet down 1 size it will help even more.

Awsome videos and great seires. I 100% agree with your therioes of limitations vrs. Longevity. I worked with a couple of the old blocks "LD80" they didnt even make it past breakin with pre-checks, torquing etc. The newer blick design I aquired and just finished prepping, and mounting and WOW what an improvement right off the bat. Much less vibrations... big plus, smoother even on very first start up and over all a better block which is stampped "7MN" on the jug as opposed to "LD80". Is it possible the new block breaths so much better that it could actually be running a tad lean? Even though the same carb setting worked great on the older design blocks. Too early to plug check. Just wondering? Because she loves a tad too much choke on warm-up. (Last moter dud that when I set her a tad too lean) Just asking, Being extra cautious with this one.

Anything 35mph+ is a respectable speed IMO. The gear ratio of a 700c with a 36t sprocket should hit 40mph+ with a 200lb rider and the right jetting. BUT, these speeds are pushing well past the safe limits of most bicycles so please be carful!

I’m putting on a g2 reed valve with my stock carb and windowed piston will it make my bike faster or hurt it
@LAHover
@LAHover 2 жыл бұрын
With stock port timing I don't think you will see much of a performance difference. From what I understand (could be wrong), Reed valve set ups work great once you start increasing intake duration... among other things. I'll do my best to test a reed valve early in the series for you guys.

@@paullehman8652 I'll tell you what ,I did the same thing you are wanting to do with the bolt on upgrades. But my bike ran way worse. I had bought a CDH Power Dio Reed, I also ordered a windowed piston, which I had watched video after video, to try and make sure I got the correct size and shape window in the piston right, lol ok stuff finally comes in I put it all on the bike....... The dam thing wouldn't start. So 2 more hrs later finally get it to start, but now had to stay on full choke or would die. But it lost big power gained no power. Now this was on an 80cc motor that I had and had stock carb stock exhaust and the cylinder was not designed to accommodate a Reed setup, as far as transfer port, port timing etc. But it didn't cost a bunch money , I may have had thirty bucks in it lol so if you want to do you own testing, this isn't going to financially cripple you or anything lol. But for me it was a waste of money Hope this helps , good luck with yours. And if you have better or different outcome let me know what was different

Hardware570 said the MZ65 clone isn't nearly as good as an actual MZ65 because the clone has a small single size diameter restrictive header....The real MZ65 has a header pipe that gradually increases in size/diameter before it gets to the belly that apparently allows for better back flow into the engine. I'm by far no expert but read the long straight cone style expansion pipes often seen on mopeds are made to mainly increase top speed/end power since they're most often rode wide open throttle cruising down the road. The curved type like the MZ65 on dirt bikes are made/curved for ground clearance but also to provide improved power through the whole throttle range, not just top speed. I just noticed something else bogus about BikeBerry is they show a picture of a real MZ65 pipe for sale $70 but then send you the clone.

Why the mz65 clone?
@LAHover
@LAHover 2 жыл бұрын
It's a long road with many things to test. The MZ65 is relatively cheap and has not had a solid head to head test on KZbin as far as I can tell. We now have real results that any builder can see to make their own decision. We will be testing it against other pipes as well throughout the series. Enjoy :)
