If you hold the little black button on the mic for 3 secs it'll turn on the LED light and you can use it as a flashlight

I'm getting the splash screen on power up and then the screens go blank and no noticeable functionality on the radio... question - can these radio's boot up without an antenna or maybe a failed antenna connection?

Oh and are these the kinds railroads use?(BNSF, Union Pacific, Amtrak)
@aaron76714 жыл бұрын
BNSF uses Kenwood TK-290s, UP uses Motorola HT1000s, and Amtrak uses HT1250s.

Dang those are awesome! Those like the Cadillac of radios lol. I'd love to have a couple or at least one. I've been curious about this, can you only have these if your a FD or EMT or something like that? Or could I have them if I have like a company or something?(landscaping, construction, oil feilds, wareheouse, etc)

Anyone can own one but you need a licence to transmit on them. These types of radios are very expensive though so getting one affordably for a average joe is very hard.

Honestly don't see why you'd wanna buy one. The 6000 is a good radio. I have used every Motorola item since I was old enough and been in fire, le, and radio maint. Over time the platform has gone from 10 to 15 plus years use to 2 to 5 years max and newer model takes over and support is removed for the models to newer. Eventually the 6000 is going to be end of life once the app next Rolla out and theyll go to the 8000 with single band key. Last I checked Motorola won't sell 8000s to public. You may find a dealer ham friendly or business but Motorola itself or most big dealers sint bother if you're not government. Honestly while they are good they also have flaws and over priced. I'd prefer a Kenwood or Harris over a Motorola but have used all in fire and other situations.

How much $4,000.00 ? Crazy if that is the case. Nice looking radio away. Out of my price range. That’s for sure. Lol
