I just got my M9 but I would love Motorola to do a remake of this phone with a larger screen and better camera with modern internals. I would buy that on day 1

Nice review! Just thought I talk about my experience getting the Droid. Verizon did a really great job at keeping things orderly on launch day. I got my Droid phone within 15 minutes! They asked for my current cell number, showed accessories right there that are available, and then got me my total and checked out. They have more stores hence not so long lines. Also, my friend had contract issues being with vzw, but vzw worked with him to keep him happy with a good deal on the Droid!

I bought mine 4.5 years ago and incredibly and surprisingly it still works good. Although I did flash the rom a few times on it so it can support 64gb cards. The only reason I still use it is it fits perfectly in my hands. Droid 3 and 4 not so good and Galaxies are even worse, all of which I have had before and they have died since. But this thing is a fucking tank the way it was built. Also have my 3gs too, similar power and just as good build quality.

Went to the verizon store to check it out looked good. Only negatives I can think of are no GSM side,no+voice at the same time,no itunes synchronization,the fact that I hate sliders!But I have the option of an onscreen keyboard so its all good.Actually like this as much as the 3GS.Was going to buy a 3GS but this fits the bill almost as well without an ETF and a switch to AT&T's constipated 3G UMTS network and riding on EDGE all day.Defiantly going to pick this up this week once my paycheck comes

About my position on this phone; my argument never was about the DROID being a bad phone that cannot compete with the iphone, it was about the lack of truly new features and the similarities in the "touch keyboard". Lastly, did the swedes win the suit against Apple?

just a random comment : for future videos, perhaps adjust the lighting of the room you're recording in? words like 'stunning, brilliant colours' etc used to described the phone's screen, but in the video it doesn't really look like that to me at all..clearly its a lighting issue with the surroundings of the phone

generally used for qwerty keyboards and if you hold the device with two hands, sometimes i have the same problem on my blackberry. however i see where your coming from, it does have a full qwerty keyboard

@pewster31 yes, a 3.5 mm headphone jack is the same kind that most headphones will use (if you have an iPod, it's what that device uses as well)

Motorola DROID or Sony Ericsson Xperia x2? I'm torn :\ I've seen both phones and I've done my homework on them and I really love them both. I love the Android software and I was set on buying the Droid up until I discovered the Xperia x2. Although it runs Windows Mobile 6.5, I still find it a really great phone. I love being organized and I want to really center a lot of my life around a phone and I find both can do that but Xperia really seems great for me but same w/ the Droid too... Help :)

I Just got the droid and i just wanted to mention a few things that bug me a little... But i still love the phone. Okk... The keyboard is small and flat but i got used to it and its kinda hard to reach the "A" on the keyboard. The unlock screen is a little glitchy when you choose to open the key board as you go to unlock it or even before you unlock it. The Volume up and down are really hard to feel so i find my self turning it up instead of down and down instead of up sometimes.

I've had this phone since November 22, so pretty much the whole time it's been out and I absolutely love it. BUT, the only thing that's starting to get realllly annoying is here the past few months, the screen will stop for a few seconds, then start going crazy and clicking random buttons. It's really annoying. Don't know if it's just mine or not though. Other than that I love the phone.

The Droid is nice compared to my former Iphone. The android market is catching up to the Apple Store, but the main apps like ebay and facebook are lacking. I dont like texting on the droid at all and never use the query keyboard. Im not sure why we cant post videos unless we use wireless?? Overall the phone is nice, but I am going to grab the EVO next week.

I just got this phone, and I have a question. My service is through PagePlus, and I have the 1200 minute plan with 50MB of free data. My question is: How do I turn on and off the data connection so that I can control how much data I use? I use the WiFi when I can, but when I'm in my car, I have to use the data plan. and they aren't supported by motorola anymore lol. i wouldn't be able to run the latest version of android on them, hell they could probably at BEST run Android 4.0 kitkat and even then it would probably be a custom rom that's missing a bunch of features because duh, older phone with far weaker hardware lol

That would be horrendous. One of my friends worked in a shop to repair cell phones, and the sidekick was the singular most broken phone on a regular basis. The way the sidekick opened beg for breaking, because it was a single hinge, that FLUNG open, and that would naturally break. Slide phones are far far more durable.

That display has a 240ppi and its 850x480 pixels. When it was released it had the best screen for about 6-9 months, till they got the Google phone and iPhone 4 .I still use it. CPU is running at 1ghz. Storage is 64gb, yes 64gb not 16gb which it had stock. Android 2.3; Still totally usable phone in 2013, other than it can't play HD videos, everything else is smooth as butter. Even touchscreen is perfect. My brother had the same phone and his touchscreen went bad after 2 months.

Its also kind weird how when your in landscape mode the volume buttons stay the same. It would be nice if they changed so the right button turns it up and the left turns it down (In landscape) but it doesn't change. Anddd... Lock button is in a weird place i find that i have to move the phone around to lock it unlike the i phone you just move your index finger to lock it (If your right handed)...

@themaxpowers It has wi-fi capability. I was afraid of that too, but I bought it and LOVE it. works fine. The thing is, you gotta order the verizon browser if you buy the droid anyway, so wifi isn't really needed.
