I was about to give up, but tried this help video because it had a somewhat recent date and was only ± 10 minutes. It took me much longer because I slowed the vid to 1/2 speed and frequently stopped it to check the stepps, but IT WORKED; although, at first it seemed I couldn't do anything more than before; so, I did a factory rest in the bootloader/recovery. This time I got a PIN request and put in the 12345 we used in the vid. I don't know exactly what did it this time... I had reviewed the video and it's sections many times, but this last time I noticed that he used a, "Skip" button close to the beginning that I hadn't noticed after trying to get in after the procedure. So I started through the AFTER procedure portion, skipping away and didn't get the login screen and followed the video AND IT WORKED! ! ! I'm very, very thankful. I hadn't worked on phones, well for a period that left me not knowing about the FRP lock. Now I'm afraid to turn it off. Other videos recommended another factory reset just to be sure the old lock didn't somehow pop up again; and I have to be sure I'm not carrier locked, although everything says I shouldn't be. There was a lock icon at the upper left in the status bar when I first started to try and recover this after a factory reset to get past a PIN that I didn't have, which led me to a reset and in the FRP lock predicament. That was probably the FRP lock, but I'm real cautious now. Good luck to everyone.
