Let me know if you have any questions about the Motorola Edge 50 Pro - I'll try and hold onto mine for a bit and update this if software updates iron out any kinks. You are the first review ANYWHERE to address photo processing of moving images, a major downfall of most cameras in cell phones. This has been a problem in my Samsung and Google phones and why until they get the shutter lag sorted cell phones will never replace true cameras. I was gonna go for the Moto but not after this review.....

I live in Brazil and I got the Edge 50 Pro 12GB 256GB on an operator's plan. The price was relatively good compared to the price charged in the national market, as I paid practically 1/3 of what the device is worth in conventional stores. Finally, I found a great device for practically everything, especially for everyday work, when we need to use the device a lot for conversations, among other things. This is possible due to the fast charging, which in a short time makes it ready for long hours of screen time. Here, it charges from 10% to 100% in just under 20 minutes, which allows me to use it for 6 hours of screen time. Unfortunately, as mentioned in the video, the camera is disappointing. I have a young daughter and I can forget to take some pictures of her daily life due to the processing delay. Due to this problem, I was thinking of also getting the Edge 50 Ultra, since I have a discount on my plan and would keep the Edge 50 Pro as a secondary device for work and the Edge 50 Ultra for everyday use. However, I haven't seen any reviews between the two yet to know if there are any differences in camera mode. I believe that on this occasion I may end up getting an S24 Plus or Ultra, since I like to record family moments. My first disappointment with the Edge 50 Pro was precisely at a school presentation of my daughter, as I recorded in 1080/30 to try to avoid the problem and, even so, there were some small lags. I hope that in the future there will be software updates to fix this problem, as I believe that the processor can handle a simple camera app. All it takes is refinement and updates.

I almost bought this phone last week when they were giving free ear buds with it, decided to buy it and noticed the ear buds deal had ended through the retailer I was buying from. So glad I didn't buy it after watching this honest review, watched so many reviews of this phone and all made it look great, even one of 2 reviewers I trust to be honest, none mentioned the camera delay, and none showed how bad the video recording/sound is. I've subscribed to the channel as first time watcher and love the honest review 👍

Thank you for the review. The 3x Telephoto reminded me of the Motorola One Zoom I had several years ago - really liked the camera on that one but similarly, the slower chip made using it a rough experience at time for taking pictures/videos. I remember taking 4k on that and the phone not being able to even play it back fluidly 🤣

125W charging was what made me want to buy this phone. To have your phone connected to a cable or a dock for hours is just a waste of time. Getting a full charge in 20 minutes makes the Moto Edge 50 series stand out compared to the competitors, where most don't even ship with a charger in the package.

Always frustrating when the camera software lets a phone down. It is hard to do well, but it's got to be better than this to make even a budget device worthwhile, let alone a mid-tier price point.

What an extraordinary review. I understood your English easily. You told all the truth about this phone.. Because of the camera app, I am hesitating to buy this. Has Moto already fixed it? Have you got any update on this? Is it heating up a lot? In India, it seems it heats a lot

Appreciate the video. Im surprised you mentioned the performance. I saw a few others and people keep mentioning how amazing the performance in gaming is especially for the chipset. I'm genuinely torn between this and the s24. I love the size, feel, software, and customization on the 24 but hate the slow charging speed, 8gb ram. I have the 22 right now and it starts to heat up for the simplest things and the battery drain is horrendous.
@tech_edit4 ай бұрын
I remember I was on a video call with the S22 and tethering to my laptop and that killed it. Couldn't turn it on til it cooled down. I've avoided Exynos since. The Poco F6 Pro or OnePlus 12 could be other solid alternatives, or the Honor 200 Pro. It depends on how much you want to spend, what's available where you live and what you prioritise. Basil

@@tech_edit true. I definitely considered a lot of other options like the Poco and OnePlus, but OnePlus has changed, and I'm not the biggest fan of the UI. Also it has to be a phone that can work on the AT&t network :/ so that limits options too

Excellent photos 👍. Motorola is better than ever in 2024. Shame about the price though as 699 Euros will hold many back including me. It is just too much and will leave 50 Pro in the shelves. Honor 200 and 200 Pro were just released and Oneplus Nord 4 in July, those will leave Edge 50 Pro in the dust, which actually is sad. At 499 Euros it could sell but at 699e it's just not possible as it's almost same priced as Oneplus 12 or cheapest Samsung Galaxy S24, and best selling Galaxy A55 sells lowest at 399e which is 300e cheaper.

Great review here, thinking of getting one. Can you tell us if there is a manual video mode and hyperlapse mode? Does turning off scene or shot optimisation help with processing speed?
@tech_edit7 ай бұрын
Thanks for the kind words. There is no manual video mode or hyperlapse, just manual photo and timelapse. Turning off scene and shot optimisation doesn't help with processing speed, however, Motorola has gotten in touch and an update is dropping in the next couple of weeks that should speed things up.
