Haha, unless you had a car charger back in the day, extended battery was a must for this beast but a great phone for sure!

went from a Motorola q9m to an iPhone 4. I really miss that phone and wish i held onto it. I had no issues with it and had tons of Gameboy emulators that ran perfectly back then and amazed everyone. It's kind of crazy how little videos of these are available I don't remember what the forum was called but there was an extremely active community surrounding these phones. That's how I got all the little mods for mine back when I was 13...

Great video! Awesome to see this device can still be somewhat used in 2021! You should be called “Silk Touch Steve”, you treat your devices very well!

I had the Motorola Q for Sprint. I used it for years before switching to an iPhone 3GS with AT&T. The representatives at AT&T laughed because I was still using the Moto Q. I loved it though!!

I really enjoyed mine while I was using it! It was a big step up at the time from the flip phones and it could do quite a bit. Let them laugh! We loved it! haha. Thanks for watching!

I had one of these back in the days. Loved it. Once I figured out how to install a youtube plugin it was on like donkey kong.

Part of me really misses the phones of this era.. my first real “smartphone” was a palm centro but I owned tons of pdas leading up to it. Something about a real web browser on that little screen was just so damn cool! Don’t get me wrong, the modern devices are great.. exactly the gadget I always wanted tbh.. but I still miss something about this pixilated, 2g, physical keyboard era! That palm centro marked the beginning of my phone being my main computer! Yep! That 2g connection was my sole internet connection for almost two years while I went to school lol, and it handled what I needed it to!

Am sure that presently phone users would complain about size and configuration of screen. Phone users are notoriously fickle in their mobile devices. I used my BB Q10 for 6yrs adequately. Then went to a BB Classic just about a great phone. Now use Uniihertz Pocket, and earnest attempt for mobiles usage! BB OS10 seems much better than Android 11! Thank you.

Back in the day, I considered the Motorola Q but ended up with the Samsung Ace which I really liked. But it stopped working under warranty so they replaced it with the Samsung Intrepid which was the first phone I owned that had wifi and looks a lot like the Q. It eventually got updated to Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional. I still have it and it still works but has very limited functionality. It's fun to see these things still working.

These devices are too much fun to get working again! I don't think I've ever used Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional...might need to look into a device I can still get with it on it...sounds like it might've worked out some of the bugs or hopefully been faster than some of the earlier Windows Mobile editions. Thanks as always!

I'm going have to pick one of these up! Did you ever get data provisioned on any of your phones? I only got it working on my newer phones from 2009 and 2010.
@StevealiciousTech
@StevealiciousTech 3 жыл бұрын
Yep, same experience. I have a video coming up on the Samsung Reclaim which was newer and auto provisioned, which was nice. I got three of them to provision but I was trying to remember last night which three haha. I think maybe the Sanyo and the Moto Razr 2 as well. Were able to auto provision even if I didn't really get data working on them.

@@StevealiciousTech If you ever do get data working on the Sanyo and Razr, make sure to get Opera Mini. It surprisingly still works

It’s a Sanyo Katana but it has been stubborn taking the data! Plus it’s hard to tell even if it does have data what doesn’t work just because the stuff is so old.

@@StevealiciousTech From messing around I've figured out that mms won't work on Sprint dumn phones or old smartphones like Palm Treos, Windows Mobile, or Blackberries. The stock browser on my Sanyo Juno works but only loads Google. I had to go to m.opera.com on the phone to download the correct version of Opera Mini.

Absolutely it's all generic now just upping the specs all the time. The old phones had class and style.

This was the first device I had when I worked for Sprint Nextel in 2007, as my free employee line of service. I chose this over the Palm Treo 650, Samsung Ace, and Blackberry. I thought it looked super cool because it was so thin. And omg it was terrible LOL, I got a lemon phone...battery would not last more than 12 hours. Tried several different batteries with no luck. The ONE great thing about this phone back then is it had stereo bluetooth meaning you could listen to music through your bluetooth earpiece (other devices honestly could not do it yet, they could only do voicecalls).

Uhhh, I don't know if you'd find a way to activate one...they still physically work, but it is hard to find service for them.
