At the base it is 1.5mm. At the top it tapers off to about 1mm. The height of the antenna is about 8mm or 3ins.

Can I connect this to my pc chirp software for my other radios and read the info from that also ?

To the best of our knowledge, CHIRP does not support Motorola RM series radios. You may need to check the CHIRP developer web site for a list of supported radios.

I just got a couple of this and I haven't been able to figure out how to change the channels other than channel 1 to channel 2 which you can do by pressing the lower soft key. Please advise. Thanks

Were these purchased used? If so, they were likely programmed with only two channels. You may need to perform a reset.

There are brand new, when I pressed the lowest soft key that has 2 dots I only have the option to switch from channel 1 and channel 2 and unfortunately those 2 channels are being used by another contract on my project. Please advise how to program channels 3 and 4. Thanks

The RMU2040 is only programmed with the two channels out of the box. The additional channels can be accessed in one of two ways. The easiest way is through the programming software. You will need a programming cable and Motorola's Customer Programming Software (CPS) to program the radios.The CPS is a free download from Motorola and the RM Series programming cable is available here. www.buytwowayradios.com/products/motorola/HKKN4027A.aspx . The second way is to enter Programming Mode on the radio itself and manually change the settings. It's not complicated, but it can take longer. You will need to locate and download the user manual for the RMU2040.

Is there a CB type radio or vehical mounted radio that has MURS channels that i could mount in my vehical? I have 2 handheld murs radios, just looking for something to mount in my truck

MURS is limited to 2 watts, so it is unlikely you will find a mobile radio that is type accepted for it.

Where do you buy your radios I went to motorola.com and they did not have radios

Tanner Todd The company was split into two separate companies a few years ago. The site you referenced is Motorola Mobility, which makes cell phones. The radios are made by Motorola Solutions and sold through authorized dealers such as buytwowayradios.com.

As a courtesy to other contractors, you may operate on a shared channel as long as you use the Waite till clear then key in to talk. Nobody likes to be stepped on so just Waite 10 sec. or so the have at it. They should also understand and play accordingly. do not engage in minutes of garbage talk as others would like the chance to talk. My .02
