NO in side your car the your transmission is bouncing off the steal car frame except through the windows A ham radio portable will act the same way that is why you need a moble unit antenna on trunck will have a 360 degree circle around your car

that is what the company want's you to think on range of the radios family service is at A Half a watt only that will get you maybe a mile with buildings in the way G M R S you need a license to use and a P L tone need's to be put in the radio son it will talk to a radio tower my radios are set with that and I ave a licensee to go with it that is not on the box or in the book

With those radios you should be able to talk further away. I watched the video of you testing the BTECH V2 GMRS radios. I have 3 BTECH V1 GMRS radios one V2 GMRS I get about a mile or more out of them. I live in southeast Ohio. Lots of trees and hills. That said in the winter I can get a little more range . That’s because there is no leaves on the trees & under brush. I get about 100 more yards with a GMRS tuned antenna.

Also if you’re going to be in the forest a lot you want a quality antenna and have the radio set on high that will help with range & clarity of your transmission .

ok first off family service has a one mile range in town F R S on the G M R S side you need a license to do it and that is 35.00 and will give 10 years and covers the family one house hold them the towers come into play and cover 20 miles per tower I am a licensed G M R S operater W R X N 824

your 5 watt G M R S radio go's in to a G M R S radio tower and the re brodcast you voice to 60 watts and goes 20 miles I have a licensee and this is how it work's
