The size of the Renault 5 is extraordinary, all the new cars are massive. As the industry is discovering, people aren’t interested in swapping their current ICE cars for a more expensive electric vehicle which is worse in useful performance. I dont need a dragster and I can use my phone if I need navigation advice. I have a TV at home and have never thought to watch movies in my car.

New Capri - I sat in that one, dark as hell and no visibility. Total rubbish. Test drive a Tesla Model Y because the salesman nagged at me - what an awful awful jiggly ride. And the user interface….. I couldn’t figure out how to turn the A/C down to a lower temp, it was just too complex. Very poor one trick pony car. And that little R5, I tried to open the door and look in and it was locked to keep the public out - at a Motor Show…….. Anyway I bought a hat from the hat shop just down from the Supercars in the Main Hall, I far more satisfied with that 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

90%of us still suffering from a cost living crisis (mortgage hikes etc) but these manufacturers continue to churn out super expensive EV’s which no-one can afford…take a look at the deals on the Honda ENY1 or the I.d buzz “commercial “..the prices have plummeted.

But there are more and more new electric cars that cost far less than what you’ve quoted. You can get a new Corsa-e for the same price - and same monthly payments - as a petrol one. And many other cars too. The Spring will be the cheapest new EV by a long way. And if you don’t want a new car, there are now plenty of larger and higher spec EVs now going second hand.

We’ve all seen the memes of an EV attached to a power station highlighting the not so green part of buying one. I’m surprised hydrogen generator engines aren’t being made yet since there have been many successful prototypes built in the past

Hydrogen is a no no too. Aviation Fuel weighs 0.75 kg per litre. A lithium battery carrying the same power weighs 50 kg. Hydrogen Fuel is four times the volume of aviation fuel and eats away metals, and needs compressing at minus 250°C. Hydrogen is a no go in all reality!

I remember going to Earls Court for the British Car Show in the late sixties early seventies. It was full of atmosphere and excitement with great cars on show. I don’t know where this is but it lacks atmosphere along with the boring state of the car market. I know we have to move with the times but surely we can produce better cars than this at more affordable prices. They are like driving an iPad on wheels, especially Teslas.
