I see more Aerostars on the road than Windstars.

Aaahhhh, how I wish for the good old glorious days when a minivan was simple and affordable......

I miss the RWD ford aerostar. It really was a nice van. It was also very durable. I loved the AWD models. They should have sold the wind and aero next to each other. I don't think they should have done away with Aerostar. But they did. It's always for money, all because the CEO and corporate directors want their huge bonuses. Greed hinders greatness!!!!

From 1995 to 1997, the Windstar and Aerostar were sold in conjunction with each other.

The shape was good, and the interior was pretty nice, but I swear, something about the front and rear fascias just looked dated, even for the time

The ceiling vents look just like the ones our Nissan Quest had.

Why did Ford discontinue their minivan? Considering at this point there's only like 2 others on the market and how they had strong sales it just didn't make sense to me.

Windstar’s had a lot of issues, the automatic transmissions were very weak, and the 3.8L V-6 were notorious for blowing head gaskets.

@Brian Torres Yeah. Older 90's and 2000's transmissions on those Fords are always pretty unreliable from what I heard.

Because Toyota and Honda have stolen all of Ford's customers....

Ford and GM would simply rather try to push their customers into a similar sized crossover SUV than spend the money to engineer a minivan from the same basic components. Their vans were always 2nd choice knock-offs of the Chryslers anyway.

2:54 and 6:22 - As a little boy with autism with a brother without autism who was, and still is, older than me, he never gave me an opportunity to choose what seat would be for me, the solid wall seat on the left side or sliding door seat on the right side, he beat me right to it before I could have a chance, and what's more, he never let me take turns with that seat, that seat had everything I needed, but I couldn't access everything, I mean sure with two headphone jacks, I was able to use one as well as my brother with the other, by using a six foot wire leaving him with a three foot wire, but I had no cupholder for any of my pop cans when I needed one, even I told my parents, but they neglected my special needs because they assumed I was just fine without one when in reality I really wasn't, my hands got frozen stiff from holding my cans that were refrigerated, soaking wet from condensation, and so full from it that it was impossible to do things that required two hands, my parents refused to do anything to help me, so while they and my brother were already comfortable, I had no choice but to suffer from such physical discomfort as explained, even at times I was left with no choice but to put them on the floor between my seat and sliding door, and that was when they spilled even if it wasn't my fault, it was my parents' fault for not solving my problem soon enough, yet they blamed it on me anyways, and it wasn't fair to be blamed or refused, so even at times, we pulled over on the shoulder of the roads for my mom to wipe up the puddles of spilled soda pop, and to prevent it from happening again, I later stopped bringing pop cans and rode the van with nothing to drink, no more spills or frozen discomforts went on, but my parents got frustrated at me for not bringing a drink with me when we went to drive thru zones of fast food restaurants like McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King, or Arby's, my mom, dad, and brother were then left with no choice but to share their beverages with me, even if it was some I hated, but that also wasn't my fault, I just didn't have what I needed and should have been given right from the start, even at other times, I had to wait on drinking access when we went to where there were drinking fountains and spend several minutes drinking to make up for all the drinking opportunities I lost, and that frustration my parents had with me kept on going until one night, we went grocery shopping at Meijer, a grocery business that competes with Walmart, and while my mom and brother were in the grocery section filling their cart with groceries, my dad and I went to the general merchandise section, we went to the auto and camping aisle, and we found a portable console with two cupholders on it, yes, two drink slots just for me, plus a storage bin behind them for me to use since my brother also had one too and I didn't either, and my dad and I carried the console from there to one of the grocery aisles my mom and brother were in, put it in the cart, and finished the grocery shopping list, scanned at the check-out line, and after my dad paid for the console and food with his credit card, we went back to our van, and while my brother opened the tailgate to help my mom load the groceries, I opened the sliding door to my seat to help my dad load my new console with two new cupholders included, the van was tan on the inside, and the console was tan to, making it look as if it was built in even though it was added in, but with a built in weighted block at the bottom and own on the carpet floor, it was held down so it wouldn't rock side to side, bounce up or down, or slide back and forth, it was put down between both bucket seats, mine and my brother's, and then we went home knowing how excited I was to be able to ride more relaxingly, conveniently, and comfortably, and then next time we went in that van after that, I got to use a cupholder when needed just like my mom, dad, and brother, and that van wasn't a grieving place to be in anymore like it once was, so after all I explained, did anyone else also notice that same problem the sliding door seat had that the solid wall seat didn't have because the solid wall seat had those gadgets and the sliding door seat didn't, causing one person to access those things and not the other which wasn't fair to whoever got the sliding door seat like me?

Well it had a cupholder on the solid wall, so if you took your seat there, you wouldn't have had to carry your pop can in your hands, but by the sliding door, you'd have no choice but to hold it in your hands for way too much longer than you could tolerate it, it happened to me and I'm on the autism spectrum combined with OCD, my brother's older than me with no psychological disorders of any kind, and he never gave me a chance to choose what seat was right for me, so he took the solid wall seat before I could take a chance to view what was there, and he left me no choice but the sliding door seat, and so while he, my mom, and my dad each had a cupholder for their beverages, I had none at all when I needed one very badly, and I couldn't get any one of those three to understand, accept, or care about the fact that I needed one, at least not until a few years after we got that van, after struggling to keep my cans in my hands without dropping them or spilling them for several hours, minutes even, my hands got frozen from sitting in the fridge, soaking wet from condensation, and some things that take two hands had to be done with one hand, and from being autistic, I had a higher likelihood of uncontrollable dropping, and so even though it wasn't my fault, it still happened, my cans fell to the floor and pop spilled around the carpet floor and from being put down on the floor between the seat and door, closing the door and then reopening it, my pop spilled from there as well, and each time, my dad had to pull over on the side of the road to have my mom clean up the mess with all the napkins that were there, other times I didn't bring any drinks with me to avoid going through it again, and then my parents got frustrated from there too because I had to drink from the drinking fountain when I had opportunities and the rest of my family didn't have to, and both my parents got frustrated from time being wasted for spending several minutes from that just to stay hydrated for as long as I could, but that was no excuse for them to take it out on me, it was my brother's fault for being selfish by not giving me the opportunity I needed to choose that seat, and it was my parents' fault for being negligent over what my seat was missing when what was missing should have been there, finally, it went too far, and instead of accepting fault, they blamed it on me, and so one night, we went grocery shopping at Meijer, a grocery business similar to Walmart, and while getting groceries, we came across a portable console with two cupholders, and a heavy weighted block was made in the base to keep the full console stable, and it got added to the empty space between both seats, mine and my brother's, and finally, I went from no cupholders at all to two cupholders together while everyone else was stuck with only one, so when we went to drive-thru zones at fast food restaurants like McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King, or Arby's, I had those two slots for pop cans and paper cups with plastic lids, and no more of my lack of cupholders continued on ever again.

I’d love to see those simple twist knobs for climate control again. Now we have to search the screen, and desperately try to peck at the virtual buttons while trying to keep an eye on the road. Incredibly dangerous!

“Ford’s proven 3.8 V6.” Proven to be a turd, long-term. My parents had a 1992 Mercury Cougar with that hateful engine and it let us down too many times, even well before 100k miles. It was replaced with a Buick Regal with the GM 3.8 V6, which was basically perfect and went 180k miles before the first problem, which was just the starter.

Never liked it. Why no head rest for the third row passengers?but they have them for the other seats. No roof rack, or 2nd sliding door.

Those are random reasons for not liking the Windstar. Especially because they had s fourth door and a roof rack.

@@GeeEm1313 when they launched it they didn’t offer those those . The fourth door came way later after dodge launched theirs. Roof rack was an opinion . It just seemed bulky and heavy. My grandmother had one . By the time they added the second Sliding door they finally put headrest on the other seats .
