I've owned my 2001 2.0 manual Trans GLS for 21yrs. It's been a fantastic car. And thankful very reliable. I'm looking forward to it being a classic very soon.

I’m still driving my 1998 baby, with 139,000 miles, a few repairs and replaced plastic parts, but it’s going strong. I stay away from the mountains though. A common problem that is huge: the AC blend doors shed foam insulation and the air flow goes everywhere at the same time. Very hard to dig in there to fix.

GREAT concept and a good performer, but the build quality was atrocious until the later 2000’s, and the maintenance needs far exceeded most owners’ mindsets and budgets.
